Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, passed away in June 2025. Ever since then, the dispute regarding his huge estate has not seemed to end. There has been a Rs. 30,000 crore estate dispute between his estranged wife, Priya Kapur, Sunjay's ex-wife, Karisma's kids and his mom, Rani Kapur. What started off as a challenge to his will now has taken a surprising turn with new claims by Sunjay's sister, Mandhira against her own deceased brother.

Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira, claims that her late brother was involved in the conspiracy

Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira, alleged that his wife, Priya, had manipulated the will towards her advantage. She claimed that her late brother, Sunjay, was also a part of the conspiracy. Mandhira addressed the new developments in an interview with Republic TV and revealed that she had to talk about the reality of what has happened. Mandhira revealed that it was unfortunate that this was the truth they were discovering, but needed to be called out. Mandhira in her words shared:

"My father’s entire estate was meant to go to my mother and be divided later. It was supposed to be shared among the three siblings and seven grandchildren. A lot is coming to light, and it is painful to admit that my brother was part of this conspiracy. Sadly, my brother was involved. Since he is no longer here to answer our questions, we are left searching for answers."

Mandhira Kapur revealed she wanted justice for her mother

Mandhira further emphasised that her decision to take up the legal matter was driven by her mom's right to fight for the justice she needed. Mandhira revealed that they are fighting to get her dad's estate back for her mother, who has been completely cut out. Mandhira revealed that what Sunjay did was not in his character, especially when it came to his own mother and children. Mandhira revealed that she and her family needed the closure. Mandhira revealed that it was important for her to understand the how, why, where, and what. That process has still been ongoing.

Mandhira Kapur addresses the issue of inheritance

During the same interview, Mandhira also addressed the issue of inheritance for Sunjay Kapur’s children from his marriage to actress, Karisma Kapoor. She reveals of wanting to make sure the grandchildren receive what Mandhira's dad had intended for them. Mandhira also commented on Karisma's stance in the matter and said:

"Right now, none of the grandchildren, including my brother’s children, have received anything. There is much more that rightfully belongs to them, and we want to ensure their future is secure. Like any mother, Karisma wants to ensure her children’s security. They have already suffered a huge loss. She has been a strong support system for her kids and is focused on their well-being.”

The dispute in the Kapur family started after Sunjay Kapur reportedly left out his mom, Rani Kapur, and his kids with Karisma from his fortune worth Rs. 30,000 crore. The document was then challenged by Mandhira and Rani, which created a family conflict, and then a legal showdown ensued. Well, it was on January 17, 2026, when Priya had gone to court to file a defamation suit against her late husband, Sunjay's sister, Mandhira. She claimed that Mandhira attacked her under 'false assertions and insinuations'.
