Sunjay Kapur's Mom Opens Up About Being Removed From Family Trust By Priya, 'She Has No Reason...'

UK businessman, Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away on June 12, 2025. His death was indeed shocking and heartbreaking for his near and dear ones. He died at the age of 53. However, within just a month of his untimely demise, his family, including his widow, Priya Sachdev, his mom, Rani Kapur and his and Karisma’s kids, Kiaan and Samaira, got involved in a legal battle. Recently, the legal drama has taken a new dramatic turn. In a recent interview, Sunjay’s mom, Rani, opened up about the following.

In a recent interview with Times Now, late UK businessman, Sunjay Kapur’s mom, Rani Kapur, clarified that Sona Comstar was built by her husband and not her son. However, Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, wants to take over the company, Sona Comstar, after his death. Rani shared that they went back and forth after the company started from Delhi to Mumbai. She highlighted that everything was going fine until Sunjay married Priya. For the unversed, Sunjay and Priya tied the knot in 2017. Rani was quoted as saying:

"First, I lost my son, and then she comes and wants to take over what my husband and I built. The house in Delhi, where we were living in Bombay and moved to Delhi, where we built Sona Comstar. We moved there, and built the house there and coming back and forth after the company started, and everything was going fine till Sunjay decided to marry this girl (Priya Sachdev Kapur)."

In the same interview, Rani shared her disbelief about how Priya, being a mother, wants to take over the property and company built by Sunjay’s father. Rani highlighted that her son was already married twice before tying the knot with Priya, and they were good family girls and had children from his second marriage. Reacting to Priya forging the will of Sunjay, Rani said it was very wrong. Rani added that after coming into Sunjay’s life, Priya started considering that everything that he owned belonged to her. Rani was quoted as saying:

"He was already married twice to a good family girls and he had children from second marriage. How can you do this to anybody? You are also married had a child - find somebody who has got nothing. I think it's very wrong what she has done. I still didn't say anything and accepted that my son was happy - it's okay. The moment he passed away, she thinks he owns the whole thing that my husband built and my husband and the house is built by me. She comes into his life and thinks he owns everything and everything belongs to her, which I'm not going to accept."

Further, in the interview, Sunjay’s mom, Rani, reacted to his widow, Priya, removing her from the RK Family Trust. For the uninitiated, Priya, who is both a trustee and beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, served a notice removing Rani as a trustee on March 25, 2026. Reacting to Priya’s move of removing her from the family trust, Rani shared that Sunjay’s widow had no reason to throw her out. She was quoted as saying:

"I think legally it's RK Trust is in my name. She has no reason to throw me out. I have all the trust. She's the one who's come into my family. And um, I was always there. And she just can't come and claim everything, which is very wrong. And I think even the law will not agree with her."
