Sunjay Kapur's Funeral To Be Held In Delhi, Kids From 2nd Wife, Karisma, Kiaan-Samaira Will Attend

Sunjay Kapur, who is a famous businessman and best friend of Prince William, lost his life in London, United Kingdom, while playing polo. His sudden demise left his family, and friends in deep shock, as it happened due to a fatal bee stung. It is worth mentioning that Sunjay was the ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, and together they have two kids, Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay's last rites will be held in New Delhi on June 18, 2025.

The entire Kapur family has been together in these testing times. They issued a press note on June 18, 2025, informing everyone about the funeral that will be held on June 19, 2025, at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground, New Delhi. The note further revealed that on June 22, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., it would take place at the Taj Palace Hotel. 

The prayer meeting note featured Sunjay Kapur's photo and a quote written in Gurumukhi from Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. At the end, Sunjay's mother's name and his third wife's name, Priya Sachdev's name, are mentioned. It also had all his children's names, including Samaira and Kiaan (kids from Karisma Kapoor), his step-daughter, Saifra, and his son, Azarias (son from his third wife). 

Sunjay Kapur's death cause

According to close sources, Sunjay Kapur was playing polo at the Guards Polo Club when he felt it difficult to breathe and was suffocated mid-game. He requested to stop the game and then left the ground. Soon, he suffered a heart attack and died. An insider also revealed that Sunjay Kapur reportedly swallowed a bee, and it could be that the bee sting in his throat, which caused a heart attack. It is worth noting that Sunay Kapur had a polo team called Aureus, in which he served as a patron. The businessman was playing against Sujan, a team led by a hotelier named Jaisal Singh.

Sunjay Kapur was also a polo patron. After the news of his death surfaced, his last photo, which was posted by the Sujan Indian Tigers Polo Team on their Instagram handle, has been going viral. They paid tribute to their late teammate ahead of the Cartier Trophy final. In the photo, Sunjay was dressed up in a dark blue-toned sweatshirt with 'UK Polo Season 2025' written on the left pocket, and an Indian flag emblem on the top of the sleeves. He gave a big smile while hugging captain, Jaisal Singh. It looked like a gesture that said, 'They got it'.

For the unversed, the 53-year-old businessman is survived by his third wife, Priya Sachdev and their son, Azarias. He is also the father of a daughter, Samaira, and a son, Kiaan, from his second wife, Karisma Kapoor. He was also married to Nandita Mahtani, who was his first wife, and they were together in the early years of 2000s.
