Suresh Oberoi is one of the most talented veteran actors in Indian cinema. The actor has been a part of countless films and is known for his terrific work. Recently, the actor made his comeback with the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer film, Animal. A recipient of numerous awards and accolades, apart from his stint in acting, Suresh is also recognised for his achievements in the political arena, and is a member of the BJP. For the unversed, his son, Vivek Oberoi is a notable actor in Bollywood.
Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai were one of the most talked-about couples back in the 2000s. Unfortunately, their love story was left unfinished and they broke up soon after. Now, in an interaction with Lehren, Suresh Oberoi retrospected about the past and revealed how he learnt about this chapter in his son’s personal life through filmmaker, Ram Gopal Verma. Sharing how he made his son understand to not be with Aishwarya, Suresh said:
“Most of the things I didn’t even know. Vivek never told me. Ramu (Ram Gopal Varma) told me. Before Ramu, somebody else told me. I had made him understand. Samjhaya tha mat karo.”

Speaking along the same lines, Suresh Oberoi talked about the equation he shared with Amitabh Bachchan. Considering how his son, Vivek had a shared past with Amitabh’s now bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one would assume that the two senior actors share a cold war. However, in defence, Suresh mentioned that he and Amitabh Bachchan were never really friends, but just good colleagues to one another. In his words:
“I was never a friend of his. I was his co-star. We had a relationship industry wise. My friendship was with Danny Mukul. Yes, Mr Bachchan invited me for his birthday but it was fine. And he doesn’t let people know about most of the things. But whenever we meet, we are really nice to each other.”
One can never forget Vivek Oberoi’s public claims against Salman Khan for ruining his career, just because the former dated the latter’s ex-GF, Aishwarya Rai. Coming back to Suresh Oberoi, the senior actor was asked whether he shared any kind of sour equation with Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan. In his response, Suresh mentioned:
“I was in relief in Vivek‘s case at that time and now also. Still we all meet each other very nicely. Whenever Salman Khan meets me, he hides the cigarette and then talks to me as a part of respect. I always tell Vivek to touch Salim ji’s feet. I also respect Salim Bhai. Things happened but my relationships are good enough.”

Years have passed after Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi parted ways. Their chemistry, both on-screen and off-screen was the talk of the town back then. Fast forward to now, both of them have moved on in their lives and are living happily with their respective spouses. Earlier, while speaking to Anas Boukhash’s podcast, Vivek Oberoi retrospected about his past relationships. While he didn’t take any names, he clearly mentioned being duped in many relationship wherein he was left despite being committed to.
