In an interview with DNA, Sushmita Sen revealed her equation with Ricky Martin. The actress quashed their dating rumours and said:

“All the time I have known him, I've been so proud of him. It takes tremendous courage to accept your own DNA. I knew he was gay. More power to him. It is a fantastic feeling to be able to love who you want to and that's a choice no one can make for you.”

It was in 2010 when Ricky Martin revealed one of the biggest news updates of his life. The singer announced his sexuality and stated that he is a ‘proud homosexual man’. On his official website, Ricky announced the happy news to his fans and revealed that people close to him had asked him not to do so, as it might jeopardise his career. An excerpt from his statement could be read as:

“I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am. Too heavy for me to keep inside. Something worth celebrating. Many people told me... 'all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse'. It fills me with strength and courage."

Ricky Martin met Jwan Yosef on social media in 2015 and got married in 2018. In the same year, Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef welcomed a daughter, Lucia Martin-Yosef, and a son, Renn Martin-Yosef, into their lives. However, the duo parted ways after six years, and their divorce was finalised in 2023. Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef are amicable towards each other and are co-parenting their kids.
