'Mohabbat hain isliye jaane diya, zidd hoti toh baahon mein hoti', this is the apt dialogue to explain the state of legendary actor, Irrfan Khan's fans. We will never be able to forget the harsh summers of 2020 when we lost the Indian cinema's gem, Irrfan. Our entire world stood still when we had first heard the sudden news of Irrfan Khan's demise. For a split second, our ears and eyes were not able to believe the flashing news on our screens. But it was all happening and we were left with no choice than to accept the bitter reality that Irrfan had finally left for the heavenly abode. For almost a month, the Indian roads were deserted and on April 29, 2020, our hearts were also left deserted when we had seen pictures of Irrfan's last rites. At the mere age of 53, Irrfan had left the world as he had taken his last breath at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital. His dialogue, 'Main tha, main hoon, aur main hi rahunga' from his film, Haider, is a perfect way to describe his extraordinary life. He was so full of life that he had never let his illness became the headlines of every newspaper.

A day after Irrfan's death, on April 30, 2020, the actor's wife, Sutapa Sikdar took to her Facebook account and penned her last goodbyes for the great soul. She shared an unseen picture with Irrfan, wherein she can be seen hugging him. She posted the image as her profile picture on the social media networking site. Along with it, she wrote, "I have not lost I have gained in every which way." Indeed, a beautiful way to bid farewell to the love of her life. Check it out below:
The actor's son, Babil also took to his Instagram handle and thanked everyone for their condolence messages. He shared an Instagram story with a note that can be read as "I'm deeply grateful for all the condolences you beautiful friends are pouring in for me. Although, I hope you understand that right now I'm not being able to reply because my vocabulary is dizzy. I will get back to each one of you but just not right now. Thank you so much! I love you." Irrfan had once shared an emotional tweet on his Twitter handle that had revealed about his rare disease. He had described his fight with the words that could be read as "Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life-shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week - ten days when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me! – Irrfan."

Later, in 2019, his wife, Sutapa had penned a note about the longest year and Irrfan's fight with cancer. Her note could be read as "Longest year of our life. Time was never measured with pain and hope at the same time ever. While we take our baby steps back to work, to life I have submerged in prayers wishes and faith from friends relatives strangers and a connection with the universe which gives us a small chance for this new start."
