Ever since September 2025, Sydney Sweeney has been trending after rumors claimed that she was dating Scooter Braun, the well-known record executive and businessman. However, Scooter has been facing criticism from the general public for various reasons, including his support for Israel and his alleged unfair treatment of young talent in the music industry while working with them. Sydney and Scooter reportedly met in June 2025, when they attended the marriage ceremony of Jeff Bezos. But Sydney is also facing criticism along with Scooter for their alleged romance.

A few months before the reports of her dating Scooter Braun went viral, Sydney launched a soap which reportedly included the water she used for bathing. The soap was launched in June 2025, and all the stocks were sold out in a brief period. But the action was not well-received by the public, as they claimed that Sydney was trying to maintain her fan base among the males by objectifying herself.

While responding to the criticism, Sydney Sweeney referred to Jacob Elordi’s Bathwater, saying that girls were specifically attracted to it. For the unversed, the product Sydney was speaking about was a candle, which was created after the release of the 2023 black comedy, Saltburn. Things were going fine for Sydney Sweeney until people witnessed a few snaps taken during her mother’s birthday party in 2022. The pictures were shared on Instagram. However, Sydney reportedly opted for a MAGA-themed celebration, where people wore T-shirts with the words Blue Lives Matter. The attendees even appeared with red baseball caps that read Make Sixty Great Again, seemingly an alteration of the full form of MAGA, which refers to Make America Great Again. While the pictures received criticism, Sydney responded by saying that none of her family members were featured in any of the photos.

In July 2025, Sydney Sweeney was part of an ad campaign for American Eagle jeans. The actress said in the commercial how genes are passed from one generation to another. A few moments later, the word ‘jeans’ appeared in place of ‘genes.’ Critics accused that the wordplay referred to genetic superiority and actions that could lead to racial discrimination. A few alleged that it was hinting at eugenics, which refers to the “use of selective breeding to improve the human race,” as per the National Institute of Health. Sydney later clarified that she does not support the “views” that were being linked to the campaign.
