Taha Shah Badussha, who played the role of ‘Nawab Tajdar Baloch’ in the Netflix series, Heeramandi, has become a favorite topic of discussion online. Some characters, irrespective of their screen time or role, get etched into the hearts of the audience, and he has become one of them. Despite being in the industry for over 14 years, Taha Shah has finally come into the spotlight. In a recent conversation with Hindustan Times, he shared his views on the love and appreciation coming his way.
Taha Shah was labeled as a ‘National Crush’ by fans for his role in Heeramandi. Due to his increased popularity, his social media following has increased considerably. Before the web series released, he had 183k followers on Instagram, which has genuinely rose to almost 2 million followers. Sharing his happiness and surprise at this response for his character, Taha was quoted saying:
“I didn’t expect something like this coming, yeh bahut badi cheez hai. Mere posts par 500-600 likes aate the and pata nahi aisa kya hua hai that they have gone in lacs. This whole National crush thing is very humbling. I feel that Tajdar is the National crush, Taha bas ek zariya hai. I am what people have made me today. I hope every character becomes a national or international crush, that’s very encouraging.”

Recently, Taha Shah sat down for an interview with Instant Bollywood, discussing his newfound popularity. He shared details on attending up to eight auditions in one day to get a good role. Moreover, he used to make several daily calls for cold-calling and networking. Taha shared that many casting directors hadn't picked up his calls for six years, yet he used to call them every two weeks. Sometimes, he had to give around Rs 4,000-10,000 to appear for auditions, and he got scammed several times during his struggle days.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to bring out the best performances from the actors he works with. In recent years, all his projects have become critical and commercial successes. As a result, many actors are looking for opportunities to work with him. So, Taha Shah shares that he was ‘grateful’ for the chance to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Heeramandi. Recalling his experience, he said:
"Tajdar is remarkable, embodying nobility, kindness, and unwavering determination. Portraying him has been a dream come true. I'm immensely thankful to Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity in Heeramandi. Working alongside such a talented star cast has been a great learning experience and honour. I believe audiences will deeply resonate with Tajdar's narrative of love and patriotism.”
