We live in a world where women are supposed to keep a veil in front of their in-laws and respect them by keeping a safe distance from them. However, the times are changing now and daughters-in-law are more like a daughter for her in-laws. From saasu maa treating her bahu like a daughter to a sasur treating her like a friend, we are stepping in a progressive world. And what better example of it can be anyone else other than Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife, Tahira Kashyap and his father.
Every year on the occasion of Diwali, the Khuranas go for a family photo shoot. Diwali 2021 was no different as the family had posed for perfect pictures in the ensembles by designer duo, Shantanu and Nikhil. From senior Khuranas to junior Khuranas, everyone had twinned in the shades of blue and red with the texture of velvet falling perfectly on them. While the Khuranas had posted pictures from the photoshoot, Tahira had captioned the happy family picture as:
“Bahot saara pyaar sabko.”

A few hours back, taking to her IG handle, Tahira Kashyap shared a video where she can be seen celebrating Diwali along with her family. Tahira, her kids, Virajveer and Varushka, her devrani, Aakriti Ahuja and her father-in-law, P. Khurana can be seen dancing on the beats of dhol. However, it was Tahira’s berserk dance with her sasurji that caught our attention and made them a perfect sasur-bahu jodi. She captioned the video as:
“Going berserk with the coolest father-in-law! #diwalimadness #diwali #dhol.”
Recalling Diwali 2020 of the Khurana clan, they had made the most of their family time in Chandigarh. Following their ritual of a grand family photoshoot, they had posed for picture-perfect family portraits with Mr and Mrs Khurana and the little ones of the house, Virajveer Khurrana and Varushka Khurrana. The entire family had twinned in ivory-coloured ensembles by designer duo, Shantanu and Nikhil. Sharing a family picture, Ayushmann Khurrana had written:
“Khurranas with social distancing wishing you a very happy Diwali. I’m exactly 6 ft apart from my family. Sigh. #HappyDiwali #Diwali2020.”

Tahira Kashyap is known for smashing the patriarchal approach of society by being vocal about the wrongs. On September 11, 2020, she had shared some of her personal experiences with casual sexism and misogyny. She had revealed an incident that had happened when she, along with Ayushmann, Aparshakti, and Aakriti had gone to an architect and how that real estate agent had stunned them with his patriarchal mindset. Revealing the whole incident, she had written:
"The agent threw open the charts on the table. We huddled over it, trying to figure which room should go where. As the four of us were mulling over where to have an exclusive master bedroom space for mom-in-law and father-in-law, the agent's assistant jumped in with an ingenious suggestion. 'We should have a service kitchen along with the main kitchen, both the Khurrana bahus would want an exclusive space to cook nai?"
While Ayushmann and Aparshakti had given that realtor an astonished look, the ladies weren't as generous as them. Tahira had continued:
"The boys were generous and only gave the poor chap an astonished look. But us girls weren't that generous. This time I looked truly bloodthirsty. I think he saw embers of fire burning in my eyes. Figuring out he had said something wrong; the assistant quickly changed the subject. Till date every time I meet him and offer to get something exclusive from the kitchen for him, he vehemently refuses. I guess he doesn't want me entering the rasoda anymore."
The Khurana family indeed had a happy Diwali celebration!
