Tamannaah Was The First Choice For 'Dhurandhar' Dance Number, Here's Why Aditya Dhar Rejected Her

Aditya Dhar's movie, Dhurandhar, has been making waves since its release. The movie grossed around Rs. 600 crore at the box office, and people haven't stopped talking about it. Dhurandhar Part 2 is set to hit theatres in March 2026, and excitement is already palpable. With each passing day, new information is making headlines.

Tamannaah Bhatia was the first choice for the dance number of Dhuradhar, to which Aditya Dhar said 'no' to

According to a recent report, Tamannaah Bhatia was the first choice for the dance number in the movie Dhurandharbut Aditya Dhar said 'no'. In the movie, Tamannaah was the first choice to perform the dance in the song Shararat, but later Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza performed it and did a strong job. The song was set during Ranveer Singh's wedding to Sara Arjun, and Ayesha and Krystle's performances complemented the movie's joyous atmosphere. Vijay Ganguly was the song's choreographer, and in an interview with Filmygyan, he recently said Tamannaah Bhatia was his first choice for the song.

In the interview, Vijay Ganguly said he believed Tamannaah Bhatia would be the best choice for the song. Well, it was Aditya Dhar who didn't want this, and he didn't pursue any item song for the movie, given to the fact that there was a lot going on in the movie itself, so had it been Tamannaah Bhatia in the song, or had it been any kind of item song, then the attention from the plot might have been shifted. Explaning why Tamannaah Bhatia was not selected, Vijay said:

"In my head, she was (the one). I had suggested her, but Aditya was very clear that he did not want what people call an item song, something that went out of the story. If it were just about one girl, it would have taken attention away from the story. He (Aditya) didn't want the attention to be about this one person. If it were Tamannaah, it would've been about her and not the story. Jo ho raha tha film mein, there was a lot going on, and if you go away from the story, then the song is just a cut-to song."

More about Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar is a spy-thriller, which is based on real events, showing how an Indian operative worked in Pakistan to infiltrate the gangs in Lyari, thereby dismantling their links to terrorists. The movie, which initially grabbed attention for the wrong reasons, became the centre of attention. Several families of the real characters, like Major Mohit Shrama and SP Aslam Choudhary, came forward with legal suits, but the movie continued to soar at the box office, making Rs. 800 crore at the box office.

The movie features top five actors, like Ranveer Singh (lead), Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, with the actress being Sara Arjun. Ranveer Singh has grabbed the attention with his already-proved acting mettle, but it was Akshaye Khanna who stole the show.

Akshaye played the role of 'Rehman Dakait', and the way he portrayed it cemented his name in a new space as the villain, which is different from what he usually did for most of his career. In Dhurandhar, 'Rehman Dakait' was killed by 'Hamza' and 'Aslam', ending Akshaye's on-screen role. There is a question about whether people will be able to see him in the second part. Part 2 will reveal secrets about 'Hamza' while bringing 'Bade Sahab', the next target, to the forefront.
