Rs. 70L Car, Rs. 2.5 Cr Wedding Were Not Enough: Tamil Nadu Bride Died, Husband And In-Laws Arrested

A newlywed bride from Tamil Nadu, Rithanya had ended her life as she couldn't go on with the harassment that was heaped upon her by her husband and in-laws in terms of dowry. Rithanya got married to Kavin Kumar only 78 days back, and within only this short span of time, she died by suicide. The entire incident has left people furious. Before ending her life, Rithanya sent her father seven audio clips, wherein she claimed to have suffered extreme torture, both mental and physical, which led her to take the step.

Rithanya, who was reportedly 27 years old, got married to Kavin Kumar in a lavish ceremony, with a budget of Rs. 2.5 crore. The bride's family gifted the groom's family a Rs. 70 lakh Volvo car, 300 sovereigns, and 800 grams of gold, but these weren't enough for them. Rithanya, in her final messages, revealed how she was tortured by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, and even her husband. She revealed that she would have to stand for hours as a punishment if a minor inconvenience had happened, while her husband tortured her physically, threatening her that he would end his life if she spilt any of it. However, as per the recent report, Rithanya's husband and in-laws were arrested.

How did Rithanya commit suicide? She sent seven audio clips to her father before she died

Rithanya told her in-laws that she would go to the temple on Sunday, and she took the car to get there. Reportedly, she bought pesticide from Seyur and consumed it while she was en route to the temple. Before ending her life, Rithanya sent an audio message to her father, where she was heard crying. She told her father that he and her mother were her world and the final hope, and she knew that her decision would hurt them, but she had to do it because she couldn't like and deal with the life she was living. She told her father that no one could understand the pain she was enduring, and everyone expected her to compromise, which she couldn't do any longer.

In the audio clip, Rithanya revealed that she knew all along that her parents wouldn't be able to see her in pain and suffering, and she took this decision as she couldn't deal with the mental and physical torture. Reportedly, after the lavish wedding, Rithanya's family promised to give 200 extra sovereigns to the groom's family and continued to pressure the lady for the same.

After Rithanya was out for temple, she didn't return, and a car was seen parked in an area for a long time. After this, the locals informed police, and they recovered Rithanya's body with fumes in her mouth. She was rushed to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. Such an incident again raised concerns about women's safety in our society.
