[EXCL] Rati Agnihotri's Son, Tanuj Reveals Pressure To Prove Mettle, 'For My Mom They Used To Talk'

Tanuj Virwani is the son of veteran actress, Rati Agnihotri and has made heads turn in Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati's Rana Naidu 2. It was released on June 13, 2025, on Netflix. Rati's son, Tanuj, made his Bollywood debut with the movie, Ek Duuje Ke Liye next to Kamal Haasan. The actor, whose mom, Rati, had a legacy of her own, shared if he was pressured to prove his worth as he was the son of Rati.

Tanuj's mom, Rati, has done many big movies in the Hindi film industry. Her son, Tanuj, has also created a name in the Hindi film industry and the OTT space. The actor likes to keep his personal and professional life very, very far away from each other. Despite being the son of a big actress, he escaped that whole nepotism debate, as back then, it wasn't a term that was used. He did get the whole Kangana fiasco on Koffee With Karan happened later. However, during an interview with Bollywood Shaadis, Tanuj shared that when one is a starkid, one gets easy access to the members of the fraternity, but he had to prove his worth despite his mom being a big actress. In his words:

"For my mother, they would meet me, but if those people think that would translate to work or a job, then they are mistaken. That's not how it works at the end of the day. People will put money on you when they know you have what it takes. It is an industry and not some time pass or kitty party going on over here."

Tanuj also shared that his mom, Rati, has been his closest friend and also his harshest critic. However, they do not discuss acting or films in their homes. Their conversations are more related to life, the kind of person one wants to be, and how to conduct oneself, setting an example, and living up to that consistently. He revealed that her advice was less about acting as a profession and more about the kind of hurdles he may come across. Tanuj revealed that he remembers the day when he had broken the news to his mom that he wanted to get into acting. The actor shared:

"She is like, hey listen, that is all great. I will always wish you well. I will always do the best, but you must realise that, as glamorous as this industry appears from the outside, it is not half as glamorous. There is a lot of blood, sweat, tears, failures, insecurities, and rejection. You need to have the belly to cope with it, the mental muscle to be able to make it to the other side. It is not about being vulnerable. You are putting yourself up on a pedestal to fall flat on your face every time you have a release coming out."

The Inside Edge star shared that his mom always told him, which is the mantra he follows, that during his highs, he must not get carried away, and during his lows, he should not get carried away and be negative, as it is unhealthy for all. Tanuj, however, is also a full-time family man in his personal life. He is a doting father and a loving husband.
