Tatiana Schlossberg, an author and environmental journalist, recently opened up about her terminal cancer diagnosis, which left her with only one year to live. Tatiana gave birth to her second child, and it was following this that she was diagnosed with the rare form of aggressive cancer, acute myeloid leukemia, after doctors found an imbalance in her white blood cells.
Tatiana bared her heart out recently in a New Yorker Essay, while sharing how her husband, George, has supported her throughout and how he reacted after getting to know that she might have only one year to live. In the essay, she revealed that when she delivered her second child in May 2024, doctors noticed a strange imbalance in her blood cells, which was one hundred to thirty-one thousand per microliter, which should have been four to eleven thousand per microliter as normal.

Tatiana was told it could have been leukemia or due to giving birth, and she couldn't believe the first possibility, which later turned out to be real. Tatiana got married in 2017 to George Moran, who was a urology resident at the hospital. After getting to know about the possibility of leukemia, he started to call his friends. Tatiana, recalling her husband's reaction, shared:
"It could just be something related to pregnancy and delivery, the doctor said, or it could be leukemia. "It’s not leukemia,” I told George. “What are they talking about? George, who was then a urology resident at the hospital, began calling friends who were primary-care doctors and ob-gyns. Everyone thought it was something to do with the pregnancy or the delivery. After a few hours, my doctors thought it was leukemia."

In the same essay, Tatiana Schlossberg revealed that she was shocked by the fact that she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, as she was one of the finest people she had ever known, and during her nine-month pregnancy, she even swam a mile in the pool. Tatiana further revealed her long journey with the treatment, which required her sister to donate her stem cells. In the same essay, she revealed that her husband and her family have been her biggest support in the journey. She shared how her husband, who is a doctor himself, would talk to her doctors and even took care of their toddler and newborn.

Tatiana added how her husband would sleep on the floor of the hospital and even kept his patience, when she, from the effect of steroids, was raging and even yelled at him. Tatiana expressed her hurt and mentioned how she feels cheated now that she would not be able to spend the rest of her life with her husband. Tatiana could be quoted as saying:

"He talked to all the doctors and insurance people that I didn’t want to talk to; he slept on the floor of the hospital; he didn’t get mad when I was raging on steroids and yelled at him that I did not like Schweppes ginger ale, only Canada Dry. He would go home to put our kids to bed and come back to bring me dinner. I know that not everyone can be married to a doctor, but, if you can, it’s a very good idea. He is perfect, and I feel so cheated and so sad that I don’t get to keep living the wonderful life I had with this kind, funny, handsome genius I managed to find."
For the unversed, George Moran is Tatiana Schloossberg's college sweetheart. The duo tied the knot in September 2017 in Martha's Vineyard, Mass. They welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2022 and their daughter in 2024. It was soon after their second child was born that Tatiana was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the mom of two expressed her hurt over her newborn not even remembering her in the years to come. For the unversed, doctors revealed to Tatiana that she might have only a year to live, due to AML, which is a rare form of aggressive cancer.
