Environmental journalist and author Tatiana Schlossberg recently released an essay and revealed that she has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. 35-year-old Tatiana Schlossberg, who is the granddaughter of John F. Kennedy, was told by doctors that she has only a year to live.
Tatiana revealed in the New Yorker essay that it was after she gave birth to her second child that doctors noticed an imbalance in her white blood cells, which they thought was either cancer or pregnancy. Well, later, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, with a rare mutation called Inversion 3. Later, during CAR-T-cell therapy, she was told that she might have only a year to live.
Amid the 35-year-old Tatiana Schlossberg revealing how she was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia), let's know what it is! As per several sources, AML is a rare cancer that affects a person's bone marrow and blood. AML is a form of aggressive cancer and usually happens to people who are aged 60, but it can also affect some adults and even children, and if not treated, it can become life-threatening.
In Tatiana's case, she revealed in the essay that she started her treatment soon after giving birth to her second child, while expressing her hurt as she talked about her newborn not remembering her while growing up. Tatiana has two children with her husband, a 3-year-old baby boy and a 1-year-old daughter. Talking about AML, reportedly, this aggressive cancer happens when certain genes or chromosomes mutate (change).
In her essay, Tatiana Schlossberg talked about how her family has been supporting her amid her terminal cancer diagnosis. She shared that her husband did everything he could, from talking to doctors to insurance people and everything else, including spending hospital hours while sleeping on the floor. She also shared that her parents and siblings have been taking care of her kids, spending hours in hospital rooms, and trying to protect her by not showing her the pain they have been suffering from. She could be quoted as saying:
"George did everything for me that he possibly could. He talked to all the doctors and insurance people that I didn’t want to talk to; he slept on the floor of the hospital. My parents and my brother and sister, too, have been raising my children and sitting in my various hospital rooms almost every day for the last year and a half. They have held my hand unflinchingly while I have suffered, trying not to show their pain and sadness in order to protect me from it."

Tatiana Schlossberg's brother, Jack addressed her terminal cancer diagnosis. The congressional candidate, Jack took to his social media handle and shared his sister's essay along with the link. He also shared some photos and atop the same, he penned, 'Life is short-let it rip'. This message itself is emotional, and given the fact that his sister is battling with such an aggressive form of cancer, it's understandable that he has been suffering from the emotional toll.
We wish Tatiana's family strength to deal with this tough time, as she battles this tough disease!
