'Yellowstone' Creator, Taylor Sheridan Is Allegedly Leaving Paramount For A Deal With NBCUniversal

Taylor Sheridan is an American actor, writer, and director who rose to fame with his performance in the TV series Veronica Mars and Sons of Anarchy, but later moved behind the scenes to do wonders. Sheridan is one of Hollywood's most prolific creators, best known for his Yellowstone Universe (Paramount), the spin-offs like 1883 and 1923, along with TV shows like Tulsa King, Special Ops: Lioness, and Mayor of Kingstown. Recently, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter suggested that Taylor Sheridan will leave Paramount as he has signed a long-term deal with NBCUniversal.

Taylor Sheridan will reportedly leave Paramount as he has a deal with NBCUniversal

Puck first reported that Taylor Sheridan will leave Paramount; however, when NBCUniversal was asked about the same, they refrained from commenting. If the reports are to be believed, Sheridan has recently signed a deal with NBCUniversal for a film, which will start from next year. As Taylor Sheridan's deal with Paramount runs till 2028, it's reported that Sheridan will move to NBCUniversal following this, on January 1, 2029, to work on several TV series and other projects. As Paramount owns Sheridan's most prolific work, like Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan will have to start a fresh line of movies and shows. To mention, Taylor Sheridan's next movie is F.A.S.T., which will be released by Warner Bros.

Why Taylor Sheridan is reportedly leaving Paramount?

Taylor Sheridan's exit is surely a shocker for many, as it was said by Paramount leadership that he is one of the most important creators, with whom they wanted to work for several years. Paramount-Skydance CEO, David Ellison, also tagged Taylor Sheridan as 'a singular genius' with 'a perfect track record'.

For the unversed, under the old management of Paramount, Sheridan was given a lot of creative freedom, along with a massive budget, as we have seen his projects being pretty expensive, and it was earlier this year when 101 Studios CEO, David Glasser, and Sheridan opened a studio facility in Texas. Well, with new management changes in Paramount, along with Chris McCharty's exit, it can reportedly be one of the reasons for Sheridan's exit as well. Chris McCharty was the one who used to handle Sheridan's projects closely.

Taylor Sheridan expressed his wish not to 'compromise' ever again

Taylor Sheridan began his career as an actor and, even before that, took up odd jobs, including a house-painting gig. Well, he was meant to have a breakthrough, and it happened when he met a talent agent in a local mall in Texas. After several supporting and recurring roles in TV series and movies, he moved behind the scenes, starting with his attempt to be a screenwriter, even without any formal training in this arena.

However, it's pretty clear that Sheirdan never stopped working until he got what he wanted. In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan said that he has spent 37 years of his life compromising, which he won't allow anymore. And thus, he found a way to tell his stories, which, if someone doesn't want to tell, he would rather read them out loud at a theatre than compromise. Sheridan said:

"When I quit acting, I decided that I am going to tell my stories my way, period. If you don’t want me to tell them, fine. Give them back and I’ll find someone who does — or I won’t, and then I’ll read them in some freaking dinner theater. But I won’t compromise. There is no compromising."
