What's better than eleven Taylor Swift albums? Twelve Taylor Swift albums and the entire internet agree. Taylor announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on August 12, 2025. The album's first look and track list were released on August 13, 2025, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights, alongside Jason Kelce. The album will be out on October 3, 2025. However, it seems like some people are not pleased with the album's themes and visuals.
Taylor Swift and Swifties are over the moon about the announcement of The Life of a Showgirl. However, according to some insiders, not everyone is feeling as thrilled in the entertainment industry. There have been reports suggesting that Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears are reportedly upset, feeling the album's theme, visuals, and costumes borrow heavily from their iconic looks without giving proper credit.
It was Radar Online who reported that Britney thinks that the Midnight maestro borrowed elements from her 2001 Dream Within a Dream tour costumes. For the unversed, Taylor Swift debuted her new album with a series of slutry pictures; the main cover features the singer in a rhinestone bra, fringed armbands, and a bejewelled nude thong, resembling Britney's iconic outfit. The insider revealed that Britney is feeling ripped off because of the entire situation and stated:
"She even feels she should have a credit in the liner notes. Britney worked with Bob Mackie on that outfit, it’s pop history. To see it repackaged without so much as a nod feels wrong."
Pamela Anderson, on the other hand, also feels like Taylor Swift has done her wrong. The actress who recently returned to Hollywood with The Naked Gun is upset with TayTay, as she feels like her new era is uncannily similar to Pamela's 2024 film, The Last Showgirl. The insider revealed that from the bright orange and pink palette to the vintage Vegas aesthetic, The Cruel Summer star's new visuals are too similar to her film. The insider stated:
"Pamela put her heart into The Last Showgirl. The colours, the vintage Vegas feel, it’s all over Taylor’s new visuals. Pam isn’t upset by the inspiration, but she believes recognition is deserved. Credits in the liner notes for her and Britney would be the classy thing to do."
While it's hard to say if Taylor Swift has taken inspiration from Britney Spears and Pamela Anderson's works, it would be interesting to see how the Maroon singer will react to the claims. However, it's also worth noting that Swifties have found clues pointing to the fact that Taylor had been hinting at The Life of a Showgirl for over three years now, but the truth will only be revealed if the singer decides to react to the speculations.

According to Taylor, the album's 'bathtub' cover represents her end-of-show routine, not just a sexy photoshoot. The album is available for pre-sale in several formats and variants, including the Sweat and Vanilla Perfume edition, It's Frightening edition, It's Rapturous edition, and It's Beautiful edition. Taylor released a limited edition Shiny Bug Vinyl collection as well, on August 19, 2025. However, it was sold out in less than an hour.
