Darshan Kumaar's 'The Bengal Files' Teaser Is Out: 'If Kashmir Hurt You, Bengal Will Haunt You'

Vivek Agnihotri is back with the third instalment of his Files series. The teaser of The Bengal Files, just dropped and viewers can already feel the level of harsh reality that they will be seeing. The Bengal Files is a haunting glimpse into the communal violence of 1940s undivided Bengal. After showing the reality of Kashmir in The Kashmir Files, actors like Darshan Kumaar, Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi are back, this time to show the reality of Bengal.

Vivek Agnihotri is back with another impactful film, The Bengal Files, which will release in theatres on September 5, 2025. The teaser of the film opens with a strong and powerful voiceover of Darshan Kumaar, which instantly sets the serious and emotional tone of the film. The voiceover says, “Main ek Kashmiri Pandit hu, isliye yakin se keh sakta hu, Bengal dusra Kashmir banta jaa raha hai”. The teaser introduces audiences to a powerful and emotionally intense drama set against the backdrop of 1940s Bengal, specifically the communal violence during Direct Action Day and related riots. The teaser is a look at a ‘forgotten’ chapter of Indian history.

The visuals are intense, filled with glimpses of riots, burning streets and helpless victims. Director, Vivek Agnihotri calls the film a voice for the voiceless and aims to highlight what he terms the 'Hindu genocide' during the partition era. With the tagline, “If Kashmir hurt you, Bengal will haunt you,” the teaser suggests that this story, too, will strike a deep emotional chord, just like The Kashmir Files. This story will make you question a lot of things about Indian history, just like what The Kashmir Files did.

Considering the success of The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files, The Bengal Files: Right to Life, marks the final chapter in director, Vivek Agnihotri’s Files trilogy. Each film in the series explores a different and often overlooked event from India’s post-independence history, aiming to provoke thought and bring suppressed truths to the forefront. This film was originally titled The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter, but it was later changed, in order to reflect the central narrative in a better manner. With this series, director, Vivek Agnihotri has established a strong place for himself in the Indian cinema as someone who delivers politically charged, research-backed dramas that blend real events with powerful storytelling.
