Tej Pratap Yadav's First Marriage With Aishwarya Rai: He Revealed, 'Ye Politics Mein Hi Karaya Gaya'

Tej Pratap Yadav led all the headlines soon after a post from his Facebook made rounds on social media. As per the post, Tej has revealed that he has been in a 12-year-long relationship with Anushka Yadav. This created a clamour around, and Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled him from the family and the party as well. As the post went viral, several questions arose, given Tej got married to Aishwarya Rai back in 2018, and their divorce case is still ongoing. Aishwarya Rai also talked about Tej's viral post with Anushka. Amid this, let's look back at Tej's first marriage with Aishwarya.

Tej Pratap Yadav said he was forcefully married to Aishwarya Rai, and tolerated a lot 

It was on May 14, 2018, when Tej Pratap got married to Aishwarya Rai. The duo's marriage was a grand affair. However, just after a few months of their marriage, the couple separated. While Tej said that he was forcefully married, Aishwarya placed some serious blame on the Yadav family. As Tej Yadav's photo with Anushka surfaced, claiming they were linked for 12 years, Aishwarya broke her silence on the same.

It was a few months back when Tej Pratap Yadav sat for an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, wherein he was asked about his first marriage with Aishwarya Rai, along with his wish to get married for the second time. When he was asked if he wished to get married for the second time, Tej said that his divorce case was still ongoing. When the host told him that people said that his first marriage was done due to politics, Tej agreed to the same.

Tej mentioned that whosoever would be with Aishwarya, his life would be spoiled, and he knew the same as he had been through this and tolerated a lot in a bad way. Tej stated that he had been a simple person and had gone through a lot. When he was asked to reveal more, he denied it and said that it was a personal matter, so he wouldn't reveal that on camera.

This was not the first time that Tej called it a forced marriage. He talked to Republic TV back in 2018, and said that there had been no compatibility between him and Aishwarya, and that he had repeatedly informed everyone about the same, but he had to get married to her. He said that Aishwarya was from high society while he is a religious person, and it was his estranged wife who suggested the divorce.

A few months after Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya's marriage, problems started cropping up, and they got separated. Reportedly, Aishwarya filed a case against Tej and his family members. On the other hand, a counter-case was lodged by Tej's family. Talking about the issues between them, Tej Pratap once said that they are poles apart. According to Firstpost, Tej mentioned that he and Aishwarya used to fight even in front of his parents, and he wished not to live with her anymore. In Tej's words:

"I’m North Pole and she’s South Pole. There have been fights between me and my wife in front of my parents. I don’t want to live with her anymore. There’s no point in being unhappy and stressed."

For the unversed, Aishwarya Rai is the daughter of a 6-time MLA and former minister, Chandrika Rai, and the granddaughter of former CM of Bihar, Daroga Prasad Rai. Talking about her educational background, she holds an MBA degree and graduated from Delhi University. It was in 2018, when she got married to Tej in a grand wedding soiree in Patna, Bihar. Months after her marriage, the fallout began, and Aishwarya moved out of the Yadav family, and the issue became public, as she was reportedly seen tearing up while leaving her former husband's home.

Later, she filed a case, and NDTV reported that her accusations included mistreatment, assault and harassment. This fallout also made the political relationship between the two families starined, which grew stronger, given their marriage. Aishwarya's father started his career with Congress but later joined RJD. However, after his daughter's separation, he left the same and collaborated with Nitish Kumar's JDU.

Aishwarya Rai reacted to Tej Pratap Yadav and Anushka Yadav's row

For the unversed, it was on May 24, 2025, when a post from Tej Pratap Yadav created a stir online. The post featured a lady, who was claimed to be Anushka Yadav, Tej's long-term girlfriend. No sooner had the post been dropped than it spread like wildfire. Following this, Tej was expelled by his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, from his family and the party for six years. Later, Tej shared that his profile was hacked, and he asked people not to fall for any kind of rumour. Tej's cousin, Nagendra Rai said that he was honey-trapped by Anushka's family, and all the posts were done by them only, not the former. He called Tej 'innocent' in this matter, and said that he would be by his side to prove him innocent.

Aishwarya Rai also reacted to the row. Talking to ANI, she questioned if the family had known about this 12-year-long relationship between Tej and Anushka, then why she was married to him, and faced what she had to face. She further stated that the expelled part might be just framed for now. She also added that she got the information about her split through the media only. She further mentioned that Tej's expulsion might have been done by his mom, Rabri Devi due to the upcoming election. In Aishwarya's words:

"Everyone knows what happened. If they (Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family) knew the whole thing, then why did they get him married to me? Why was my life ruined? Why was I beaten? Now they have suddenly had a social awakening. I got information about my divorce from the media. All the information I got was through the media… I did not know what was going on. Rabri Devi must have gone yesterday and told them to stay quiet for now… since it’s election time, that’s why they’re putting on this drama."
