Terence Lewis spills beans on reality shows being scripted

Terence, during an interview with Pinkvilla, shared that on the sets of reality shows, the judges are asked to create unforgettable moments. The choreographer was shown an old picture of him with Deepika Padukone when she arrived on the reality show, Dance India Dance Li'l Masters where he was the judge. Terence shared that she had come to promote her movie, Chennai Express and revealed how it has never been their wish to dance on the stage impromptu. He said:

"These are not our wishes. A lot of people think that we want to dance, but we are told to create a moment (laughs). So when you say 'Things are scripted.' Yes, this is scripted. Interaction with the guests, and contestants. Dance is not scripted. Judgment is not scripted. That is honest and true. The talent is not scripted, and the comments are not scripted. But the rest that will look good on television, and it will give a promo moment so that all."

Terence is a master of all dance forms, but his major interest lies in contemporary, which surely runs in his bloodstream. He has been one of India's ace choreographers. Terence further shared how he was told to create an unmissable moment on the stage, so he selected Deepika. He said she was not aware that both of them had to create a moment on the stage. He confessed to TV being unforgiven as there is no time and budget.

Terence Lewis shares how he has never asked an actress to come on the stage

Often, it is seen in reality shows in which Terence is there; he is seen helping the actress come on the stage. He mentioned that these things are fully scripted and that in his career of 8 years as a judge he has never gone to a contestant and said, 'Please ma'am'. He even shared that India's Best Dancer's creativity team had asked him to create moments for TRPs. Initially, Terence did not like the idea of the creative director of making an impromptu moment but then the makers shared with him the top ratings that the dance reality show got. Terence said:

"It's very sad to say this, but the maximum amount of spike in the viewership was when we were doing all this masti. So now, audiences are to be blamed because they like it. So it is scripted."
