Thalavara, starring Arjun Ashokan and Revathy Sarma, hit the cinemas on August 22, 2025. This Malayalam-language coming-of-age won many hearts during its theatrical run. Now, after a long wait, fans will be able to see Thalavara on the OTT space. Here are all the details on Thalavara OTT release.
After completing its theatrical run, Thalavara is all set to dominate the digital space. This 2025 Malayalam-language film is now available to stream on Amazon Prime. The film collected approximately Rs. 2 crores worldwide, according to a Sacnilk report. Although the budget of the film has not been revealed, many reports claim that it was a flop. However, Thalavara has received widespread positive reviews from fans and critics alike for its heartfelt story and powerful performances.

The story of Thalavara tackles the subject of vitiligo, a condition rarely represented in Indian cinema. The plot revolves around 'Jyotish', who is a man with vitiligo residing in Palakkad, Kerala. Despite the hurdles in his way, he dreams of starring in films as a 'hero'. His aspirations keep getting blocked by his own self-doubt and his family's apprehension. However, 'Jyotish' learns to believe in himself and his dreams. Meanwhile, 'Sandhya', his love interest, supports him throughout his journey of self-acceptance and growth. And it is through her love that 'Jyotish' also comes to love himself.

Thalavara stars Arjun Ashokan as the protagonist, 'Jyotish'. Meanwhile, Revathy Sarma, plays the role of his love-interest, 'Sandhya', whose unwavering support becomes one of the most compelling aspects of the storyline. As a newcomer, Revathy surprised everyone with her nuanced acting. Ashokan plays the role of 'Kannapan' and Devadarshini essays 'Asha', and they both star as the parents of 'Jyotish'. The film was directed and co-written by Akhil Anilkumar. Thalavara, meaning fate line, has been co-produced by Shebin Backer Productions and Moving Narratives. Music for the film was composed by Electric Kili and Vijay Anand, whose music gave a soulful backdrop to the film.

The story and acting of Thalavara were praised a lot by people, especially by those who connected with how a man with vitiligo was represented on screen, something which wasn't done before. One X user wrote how the film was relatable to him since his late Achan (father) had vitiligo. The user wrote, "Simple movie with good emotional connect, it's about a young guy with vitiligo finally overcoming insecurities. Good one by Akhil Anilkumar. Good performances by Arjun & Devadarshini. Achan had vitiligo in the final years, he became insecure about that, so relatable to me." Another netizen shared, "#Thalavara: went in with no expectations, came out very satisfied. An underdog story with its usual flaws, yet such a good watch. Arjun, Music & the heroine. Recommended."
