Matty Healy, the English singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the band, The 1975, is not in the mood to step down from mocking the Malaysian authorities for their anti-LGBT laws. The singer took to his Instagram handle to share his thoughts on the country’s prohibition of same-sex activities.

The 34-year-old has deleted all the stories from his account mocking the Malaysian authorities. His retaliation comes after the authorities banned the indie pop rock band, The 1975 from returning to the country following their remarks on homosexuality.

Matty Healy challenged Malaysia’s rules against the LGBT community by kissing his male bassist, Ross MacDonald, on stage during their performance on Friday, i.e., July 21, 2023, at the Good Vibes Festival in Kuala Lumpur. As a consequence of this behaviour, the country prohibited the band, The 1975 from further performing in Malaysia.

The singer-songwriter mocked on his Instagram Stories on Saturday, i.e., July 22, 2023, as news about the ban made global headlines. He posted a picture of the map of Malaysia with a black hat on it. Matty also posted numerous photos with his fellow band member, Ross MacDonald to showcase his friendship with him. His caption read:

 “Ok well why don’t you try and not make out with Ross for 20 years. Not as easy as it looks.”

A day after the incident during The 1975's concert where Matty Healy protested Malaysia’s anti-LGBT policies, the country’s government cancelled the entire festival in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Following a meeting with the organisers of the Good Vibes Festival, the Communications and Digital Minister of Malaysia, Fahmi Fadzil condemned the band’s behaviour and added that no one could violate the country’s rules. He said:

"There will be no compromise against any party that challenges, disparages and violates Malaysian laws."

Good Vibes Festival was previously a three-day festival cut short due to Matty Healy’s remarks against the Malaysian authorities. The country’s communication ministry cancelled the festival and banned The 1975 band from the country. Shortly after this incident, the festival authorities issued a statement on their Instagram handle declaring the cancellation of the event.

I’m sorry if that offends you, and you’re religious. But your government are a bunch of f*****g r*****s. I don’t care anymore. If you push, I’m gonna push back. I’m not in the f*****g mood.”
