The Diplomat season 3 dropped on Netflix on October 16, 2025, and it has already become a fan favourite. The tension-filled political thriller series depicts a lot of complex relationships. However, the actors and actresses who play these characters, tangled in complicated bonds, actually serve a couple of goals in real life. Keri Russell is married to The Americans co-star, Matthew Rhys 

Keri Russell starred in the series, The Americans, from 2013 to 2018, before she starred in The Diplomats as 'Kate Wyler'. During her stint on the show, she met Matthew Rhys, who played the role of her on-screen husband. The co-stars started dating and made their relationship public in 2014. They also welcomed a son, Sam, in 2016. Keri also has two children with her ex-husband, Shane Deary. Keri and Matthew have been together for years and also refer each other to husband and wife but they haven't tied the knot yet. In Dinner's On Me podcast, Keri stated about her on-set romance:

“It was such a lark that we got to do that together ... at that prime of our lives. Had we met when we were 20, we wouldn't be together. We were just in the right moment."

'Hal Wyler' of The Diplomat, a.k.a Rufus Sewell, keeps his married life private 

Rufus Sewell got engaged to actress and model, Vivian Benitez, in 2023 after dating for three years. The couple tied the knot on July 17. 2024. Rufus likes to keep his personal life private, and hence, he hasn't made any comments about his relationship or marriage to Vivian. Although, the two have made a few red carpet appearances. 

David Gyasi of The Diplomat married his childhood sweetheart 

David Gyasi has been with his wife, Emma, since they were in secondary school. The actor once revealed that Emma got pregnant when they were still in school. However, he stayed by her side and they welcomed their daughter, Elena. The couple then got married later and had a son named Nathaniel. Talking about his marriage, David said to The Standard:

“Obviously, the 32-year-old David is very different from me at 19. But I feel incredibly lucky that I’ve been allowed to change, and that my wife feels she’s been allowed to change.”

'Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge' and 'Lydia' are a couple in real life 

'Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge' and his on-screen wife, 'Lydia Trowbridge' are a real-life couple. Played by Rory Kinnear and Pandora Colin, respectively, the actors have been together since 2006. They also revealed to The Guardian that they also share two daughters, Riley and Hope. 

Ali Ahn is dating William Jackson Harper of The Good Place fame

Ali and William met as theatre actors in New York. Their relationship started when the two of them starred in a production of Romeo and Juliet. Both Ali and William like to keep their relationship under the wraps, however they have attended a few red carpet events together. 

Michael McKean has been married to Annette O'Toole for 25 years 

Michael McKean, who was an essential part of The Diplomats until the finale of season 2 has been married to Annette O'Toole for 25 years. They got into a relationship in 1998, however, the two had first crossed paths in the 1970s. They have collaborated on many projects together and have also been nominated for the Oscars for songs that they wrote for the film, A Mighty Wind.
