The much awaited and anticipated romantic drama film, Metro...In Dino hit the screens on July 4, 2025, marking the return of Anurag Basu to cinema after 5 years. The film is considered a spiritual sequel to the 2007 film, Life in a...Metro. On day 1 of its release, it generated a lot of mixed reactions by fans on social media platforms. While some praised its storytelling, others felt it didn't match up to the impact which was created by its predecessor. 

Mixed reactions on Metro… In Dino from viewers on social media

The film has been receiving a lot of mixed reaction online. Many users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed their opinion about the film. Some fans appreciated the individual performances of the actors, while some compared the film to its predecessor and felt disappointed. One fan wrote, "I loved Sara Ali Khan’s character, it was relatable at so many levels!", while another said, "Love Pankajji and how he chases, Anupam Sir’s silent love and overall, be it Aditya’s cuteness, Ali Fazal’s seriousness, Fatima’s efforts, Konkona’s chulbulapann, Neena Ji giving a chance to life - this was a movie which was interconnected!". A third user said, "Metro... In Dino is a heartwarming and nicely shot film about different people and their relationships in a big city. It’s a sequel to Life in a... Metro, and it has that same emotional vibe." A few also called the film a 'feel good movie'.

Apart from positive reviews, there were comments of viewers who were not satisfied with the film. There were a few viewers who seemed disappointed with the second half and believed that the film wouldn't do well at the box office. Film critic, Sumit Kadel commented on X, "The film fails to recreate the emotions, essence, and depth that #LifeInAMetro delivered 18 years ago….Overall The film is one time feel good watch but unlikely to succeed at the box office, as audiences won’t be able to connect with it the way they did 18 years ago." Another critic, Taran Adarsh liked the film and commented, "A well-crafted film that celebrates love, loss, longing, and life in a metro… Emotionally rich. Highly relatable."

Box office expectations from the film, Metro… In Dino

Film experts predict a decent and modest opening of the film, Metro.... In Dino. A film reportedly made with a budget of around Rs. 80-70 crore is expected to earn around Rs. 3-4 crore on its first day. Some experts believe that this film is suited for urban cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore but can struggle in other areas. To do well at the box office, the film constantly needs good word-of-mouth and a strong weekend.
