Plotline of The Girlfriend

The Girlfriend is the story of 'Bhooma' (Rashmika Mandanna), a bright and young woman who joins college in Hyderabad to pursue her master’s in literature. Soon, she meets 'Vicky' (Dheekshith Shetty), a charming senior, who initially seems caring but as the film moves forwards, he turns out to be controlling. And soon the affection turned into manipulation and gaslighting. 

The film, directed by Rahul Ravindran shows 'Bhooma's' journey, who struggles with shame, confusion, handling truth and the cost of staying silent. The film also explores her healing journey including painful choices and emotional fallout. Apart from the main cast, the film also stars Anu Emmanuel and Rohini.

One user commented, "The girlfriend, whole movie is very good. Rashmika acted very well in the movie, this is her career best acting in a movie. A must watch film in theatre." Her breakthrough came with Kirik Party but she became a household name with Geetha Govindam. Later, she appeared in films like Animal, Mission Majnu, Sikandar, Pushpa, Thamma and more. 

In her personal life, Rashmika has been rumoured to be dating co-star, Vijay Deverakonda. A few weeks ago, the couple made headlines when reports suggested that the two got engaged in October 2025. A recent report also suggests that the couple are planning a wedding in 2026. However, neither Vijay nor Rashmika have confirmed the news.
