'Marty Supreme' Trailer Is Out, Josh Safdie Makes His Solo Directorial Debut With This Sports Film

Finally, there is good news for all the fans, who were eagerly waiting for a film by Josh Safdie. The trailer of American filmmaker's long-awaited solo feature film, Marty Supreme is out. A24 dropped the trailer of this sports movie on August 13, 2025, and the internet can't stop buzzing about it.

The film, Marty Supreme has been generating a lot of buzz, especially since last year, when a leaked image from the sets of the film went viral. On August 13, 2025, the makers officially dropped the trailer of this much awaited and anticipated sports movie. The trailer of this film, opens with the character, 'Marty Mauser' (played by Chalamet) calling a movie star (played by Paltrow) and he tells her:

"I am something of a performer too."

The film is set in the 1950s and it is a fictionalised take on the table-tennis legend, Marty Reisman. The plot follows 'Mauser's chase for recognition as a ping-pong player and it blends romance, dark humour and interesting match sequences. The entire trailer sets the tone for an intense ping pong player. In the amazing and powerful trailer, Chalamet's character, 'Marty' says to Kevin O’Leary that:

"It's only a matter of time before I'm staring at you from the cover of a Wheaties box."

The sports film, Marty Supreme is directed and produced by Josh Safdie. The film stars amazing actors like Oscar nominee, Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Kevin O'Leary and more. Behind the camera, the film is shot by Darius Khondji and edited by Rolland Bronstein. Every single person, who is a part of this has added their own magic and layer to the narrative of the film, which is all set to release on Christmas 2025.

Within hours of its release, fans started cheering for the actors. A lot of fans took to their social media handles to shower love. Chalamet’s dedication for his role in the film, Marty Supreme

A while ago, the cinematographer of this film, Darius Khondji, opened up about the effort the actor, Chalamet has put into his role as a ping-pong player. In an interview with Variety, Darius revealed that he underwent professional training to look real. In his words:

"He wanted to be like a real (professional) ping pong player when he started shooting."

Josh Safdie was born on April 3, 1984, and he rose to fame alongside his brother, Benny Safdie. The two worked together and directed several films like Daddy Longlegs, Lenny Cooke, Good Time and more. In the early 2024, the two brothers announced their split as co-directors, which marked a new chapter in Josh's life.
