Twilight fans, wake up! There's a new update about your favourite movie franchise. A recent social media post about The Twilight Saga has generated significant buzz online. Fans are curious to know whether it was a subtle announcement of the iconic 'Edward-Bella' romance being back on the big screens. A poster of The Twilight Saga, featuring a cryptic caption, generated curiosity and confusion among fans. It left them wondering if Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are back for a new movie.
On August 27, 2025, a poster featuring the lead cast of The Twilight movie series was released as a collaborative post by the official Instagram handles of Twilight, Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment. The photo featured Robert Pattinson's 'Edward Cullen', Kristen Stewart's 'Bella Swan', and Taylor Lautner's 'Jacob Black's' faces stacked on top of each other in a dark forest-like setting. 'Edward' and 'Bella's' eyes had the signature vampire glow, and all three of them had serious expressions.
The poster of The Twilight Saga included the text "Forever Begins Again" and the bottom of the photo featured "This October" written in bold letters. The cryptic social media post, which was captioned as "Tomorrow", initially confused Twilight fandom about what the franchise was hinting at for October 2025. It prompted fan theories about the creation of a new book, an animated series, or even a movie sequel. Subsequent news reports from The Hollywood Reporter, The Express Tribune, and others put an end to the speculation by revealing a special plan by the franchise for its fans.
No, there are currently no plans for a new Twilight movie. The special plan includes the franchise's decision to re-release all five Twilight movies in theatres for a limited run via Fathom Events. It generated excitement among younger fans who never saw the films on the big screen. The cinematic event is timed for the Halloween season, tapping into nostalgia for the vampire-romance saga.
The fan-favourite werewolf of the Twilight movies also joined in on the excitement regarding the movies getting re-released this fall. Taylor Lautner slid into the comment section of the announcement post and dropped a blushing emoji. His comment elicited amusing reactions from fans, garnering over 850 replies. As his reaction came within seconds of the post's drop, curious fans asked him what the update implied. A fan said, "Wait he knows something!", another wrote, "Brooo u got me thinking", a third asked "Jacob is this real". Now, fans know what it means, and they can't be any happier.

The fifth and final movie of the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, was released in 2012. However, it still remains one of the most popular movie franchises of the genre. In 2023, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the first Twilight movie, director Catherine Hardwicke spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the film's enduring popularity. She believes audiences relate to the movie because everyone desires the "head rush" of a first and intense love. Mentioning that she worked hard to portray that emotion, Catherine said:
"Everybody wants to have that first love. That's just undeniable. That's just a head rush that makes you feel ecstatic. A love that's like a drug…. And that's what I was really trying to create in the movie."
