They are childhood sweethearts, together since 3rd grade and best pals in the college days. Freshly out of college Dushyant proposed Nidhi who was more than ready to accept. They courted for another three years and then decided to walk the aisle with the blessings of both their families. Only that Nidhi wanted to walk down the aisle literally, desiring a chapel wedding despite being a Rajasthani. A Rajasthani wedding was scheduled to take place and both Dushyant and Nidhi got occupied with making plans for the wedding and savouring every moment of it.
Rajasthani weddings are known to be pompous and both of them wanted it to be so in order to flaunt their own love story. The venue was decided to be a Five Star Hotel in South Mumbai and all the decorations were done in true elegance of the Rajasthani splendour. Nidhi’s as well as Dushyant’s brothers and sisters were involved in the wedding preparations. The parents were left with the task of sponsoring the whole gala affair, the rituals and customs and the relatives. Rest of the things were taken care of by the wedding planner with absolute interference of the bride, the groom and their brothers.

Dushyant did not want a bachelor party and Nidhi decided to do away with hers as well. The three day affair was to start with Mehendi and Haldi at their respective residences, Sangeet on the penultimate day and the grand wedding on the ultimate.
Nidhi was whole heartedly into the Rajasthani theme and very fondly chose a nice, bright red and bottle green coloured jacquard saree with heavy golden work and matching jewellery. She insisted on putting a traditional ‘Borla’, a kind of jewellery worn in the parting of the forehead. For Dushyant, they chose a Jodhpuri off whitish suit with red and green heavily studded ‘safa’ or headgear to go with the dress. As expected on the D-Day, they both looked like some medieval kind and queen from the land of the Royal Rajasthan.
It was an evening wedding followed by midnight ‘phere’ and the magic of the night had everyone in its grasp. The food was awesome and the decorations enchanting. Everybody congratulated the bride and the groom, the night flowed away and the bride bid farewell to her family with teary eyes. But the best is yet to come!
Nidhi was startled to find herself being fit into a gorgeous bridal gown. She did not know what was happening as she was led by Dushyant out of the house, into the limousine that waited at the door and driven to the chapel where a multitude of friends and close relatives were awaiting their presence! She realised the gravity of it all when her father actually stepped out to give her away and all she did, as she said, was breathe a silent prayer asking for eternal love and joy.
