Thrash, the American survival thriller, is making headlines for its gripping storyline. Directed by Tommy Wirkola, the film stars Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, Alyla Browne, and Djimon Hounsou. The Netflix film has already created buzz on social media. The survival thriller film was released on April 10, 2026, on the OTT giant, Netflix. Thrash is all about a pregnant woman named 'Lisa' (played by Phoebe Dynevor). Amid the buzz surrounding the survival thriller film, let’s find out whether it is worth watching.
The story of Thrash kicks off with a natural calamity, a Category 5 hurricane hitting a coastal town in South Carolina. In the middle of this natural disaster stands 'Lisa Fields', a nine-month pregnant woman. She is trapped inside her crashed car. However, she cannot escape as the storm grows stronger and the floodwater rises. But the looming danger didn’t stop here. The situation gets worse and more deadly when sharks start circling in the floodwater.

Phoebe Dynevor stepped into the shoes of the female lead, 'Lisa Fields'. Her character brought emotional depth to the story. 'Lisa Fields', who is nine months pregnant, avoids every warning to leave the town before a Category 5 hurricane hits hard, so as not to get stuck in her crashed car. With floodwater rising up and sharks circling in it, the situation goes out of hand.

'Lisa Fields' is struggling hard to survive and preparing to give birth to her baby. 'Dakota Edwards' (played by Whitney Peak), niece of marine researcher, 'Dale Edwards' (played by Djimon Hounsou), comes to 'Lisa's' rescue. During the climax, 'Lisa' goes into labour while still being surrounded by rising water and dangerous sharks. With 'Dakota's' help, 'Lisa' manages to give birth to her baby.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phoebe Dynevor opened up about her role in the film, Thrash. Phoebe shared that she wanted to make every sequence look real. She mentioned that her character, 'Lisa Fields', had gone through multiple stages, including childbirth, fighting sharks, surviving a hurricane and more. She was quoted as saying:

"I really wanted to get it as right as I could. It’s obviously a movie, so it’s hard to get it exactly right because there are so many different stages to childbirth. But it’s funny to now watch the film because I really didn’t need to be as worried as I was. There’s sharks and hurricanes and so much else happening that it’s hard to focus on the birthing. But I really did the research because I haven’t given birth yet, and I just wanted to get it right."
The Netflix film, Thrash, lacks real suspense or thrill. Usually, shark movies are meant to be thrilling. Unfortunately, the suspense and the thriller element is missing in the film, Thrash. A movie critic found the storyline weak. The critic wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Thrash (2026) had a premise that promised madness: natural disaster + sharks + chaos. But it's very weak. It has some fun moments (almost at the end) and that B-movie vibe, though it doesn't squeeze the idea dry or hook you with the characters. It's watchable, but amid yawns #thrash." Another movie critic penned, "Its worst sin isn’t its stupid characters doing stupid things; it’s that the whole thing feels remarkably lazy, failing to find any tension or even B-movie thrills."

If you are wondering whether to watch or skip the Netflix survival thriller, Thrash, we would suggest you watch it at least once. And if you are a big fan of Phoebe Dynevor, then this film is a must-watch for you. For those unaware, Phoebe Dynevor is widely known for her role in the hit series, Bridgerton.
