Tiger Woods, the world's number one golfer, made it to the headlines when on March 27, 2026, his car crashed in Florida. The golfer was trying to overtake a truck, when he hit the rear body of it, leading his Land Rover to roll over.

Tiger Woods was unharmed, but he was later arrested over DUI charges, including property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. The incident has been grabbing the attention of latetly, and now, the golfer came forward to talk about the same. Tiger Woods recently shared a statement about the incident that took place, and he said that he would step away for a while.

Tiger Woods broke his silence over the DUI arrest

Taking to his X (Twitter), Tiger Woods shared his first statement over the DUI arrest. In the statement, he revealed that he is aware of the seriousness of this situation. He further mentioned that he decided to step away for a while to seek treatment and focus on his health.

He mentioned in the statement that it was necessary and he needed to do the same for prioritising his well-being and work toward lasting recovery. Tiger Woods revealed that he wants to focus on his personal and professional lives. While asking for privacy, Tiger Woods penned:

"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I'm committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."

Why was Tiger Woods arrested?

For the unversed, Tiger Woods was arrested over DUI charges. On March 27, 2026, he was in Florida and was in his Land Rover. Reportedly, on Jupiter Island, he was trying to overtake a truck, and in doing so, he hit the rear body of the vehicle, and his car rolled over. It couldn't be confirmed whether or not he was wearing a seatbelt. However, later authorities arrived at the place, and it was revealed that the golfer was not under the influence of alcohol.

However, he denied undergoing the urinalysis test, which could have confirmed whether or not he was under the influence of medication or drugs. As per Florida rule, he was arrested and held in a local jail for 8 hours before he was released on bail. This is not the first time that Tiger Woods has been charged with DUI. In 2017, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving, and with the same case happening again, the chatter around the same intensified.

Tiger Woods's DUI arrest brought his personal life into the limelight

Tiger Woods has been dating Vanessa Trump. The duo's dating buzz began in 2024, and in 2025, they confirmed being together. Well, it was with his DUI arrest that his and Vanessa's relationship came into the limelight again. As per the Daily Mail, Vanessa was embarrassed and disappointed with this. Sources revealed that Vanessa was not at all happy, and she wanted Tiger Woods to do whatever it takes to sort things out, else she would not stick around. According to the source, Vanessa didn't give an ultimatum, but she made it pretty clear that she wouldn't bear it if things continued to happen this way. The golfer was reportedly embarrassed, too, and was trying to fix things.
