Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci first met during the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. But they were in a relationship with other people at that time. Once again, their paths crossed in 2022 when Monica presented the Lumiere Award at the Lumiere Festival to Tim Burton. Soon, pictures of the duo walking hand-in-hand in Madrid led to rumours about their relationship. In 2023, they confirmed their relationship at the Rome Film Festival and gushed about their love in interviews. Once talking about Tim to Elle, Monica said:
