Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's show has been tickling fans' funny bones since 2008. The sitcom has always touted controversy for varied reasons. Recent reports were floating online that Dilip Joshi, known for his hit role as 'Jethalal', and producer Asit Kumarr Modi had a major fight on the show. However, Dilip denied the false rumours, and now 'Bhide', aka Mandar Chandwadkar and 'Jethalal's' on-screen father, 'Champaklal', aka Amit Bhatt has reacted to the news.
During an interview with Screen, Mandar aka 'Bhide' denied the fight between Dilip and Asit. He revealed that they all liked to work peacefully and happily. Amit, best known as 'Bapuji' said ''No yaar'' In words of Mandar:

"What rubbish? Who spread these rumours? We all are shooting absolutely peacefully and happily."
Several online media reports revealed that Dilip had a heated argument with Asit. The alleged incident took place in August, 2024. Dilip wanted leave for a few days but was denied by Asit, as he had dodged the topic. The actor felt insulted and had a physical fight with the producer. Dilip had even threatened the producer with leaving the show. A source close to the production team of TMKOC had said that Dilip wanted to talk about his vacation plans with Asit. A report by News 18 also stated that it was 'Goli' aka Kush Shah's last day on set, and Dilip was waiting for Asit Modi to arrive because he wanted to talk about the vacation issue. However, Asit went straight to meet Kush Shah instead. Dilip Joshi didn’t like this behaviour at all. The report then read:
“Dilip Ji became very upset, and an argument broke out between him and Asit Ji. During the argument, Dilip Ji was so furious that he grabbed Asit Modi’s collar and even threatened to leave the show. However, Asit managed to calm him down. It’s still unclear how the situation was eventually resolved.”
In a media statement, Dilip cleared the air about the rumours doing roundabouts. He said that he wanted to clear the air as there were some stories in the media about him and Asit Bhai, which he called false. In words of Dilip:
"It really saddens me to see such things being said. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a show that means so much to me and millions of fans, and when people spread baseless rumours, it hurts not only us but also our loyal viewers."

Dilip further said in his statement that he was disheartened to see negativity being spread about something that has brought so much joy to so many for so many years. Every time such rumors pop up, it feels like he and the full team of TMKOC are explaining that they are completely untrue. He feels tired and frustrated as it’s not just about the show but also about all the fans who love the show and get upset reading these things.
Further, in the statement, the seasoned actor said that it feels like every few weeks, there’s another new story trying to defame Asit Bhai and the show in some way. He feels disappointed to see such things popping up again and again, and sometimes he can't help but wonder if some people are just jealous of the show’s continued success. As Dilip said:
"I'm here, I’m working every day with the same love and passion for the show, and I’m not going anywhere. ’ve been a part of this wonderful journey for so long, and I will continue to be a part of it."
