His name surfaced after independent journalist Ashleigh Banfield reported that a source had identified Tommaso as a "person of interest". However, the Pima County Sheriff's Office and the FBI emphasised that no suspects or persons of interest have been officially named.

But, her phone has been found inside her home and DNA confirmed that the blood found on the porch belonged to Nancy. 

At the same time, new outlets such as TMZ and KOLD-TV received ransom notes demanding Bitcoin, which were sent to them. One message reportedly contained unreleased details, which has made authorities believe that it could be linked to her disappearance. Even seperate California individual, Derrick Callella, was arrested for sending fake ransom texts to the family. Furthermore, the FBI is offering a USD 50,000 reward for information on her.
