Every year since its inception in the year 2009, the Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) organises a fashion show for the Pakistan fashion industry where some of the biggest fashion designers from the country participate. Last year, the collections were truly awe-inspiring! There were many gorgeous designs this year too, which we thought would be perfect for a summer bride. Let us look at them.

Inspired by the everyday events occurring around us, Nomi Ansari’s collection involved a good dose of vibrant colours and all sorts of chic prints. However, what caught our eye was the quirky skirt and asymmetric crop top that looked perfect for a bride-to-be with an offbeat taste. Straight out from the 70s, this eccentric lehenga will fit perfectly with your themed mehendi party.
Titled ‘Sugar Rush’, Sana Safinaz’s Spring/Summer collection displayed a feminine charm. But, our eyes held immense praise for the maxi dress in white. Designed using luxe lace or net, the maxi dress had strong boho vibes to it. It looks fun, classy, with simple cuts and the material is definitely lightweight for summer. The maxi dress would be a perfect choice for your bachelorette party at the beach.

Hidden among all the pretty prints of Nomi Ansari’s collection, there was one white lehenga with peach and pink embroidery all over it, which will look beautiful on the bride on her D-day. Paired with a plum-coloured crop top with galaxy prints over it, the lehenga looked charming! We think this lehenga with a strategically placed dupatta could be a great choice for the summer brides for a day function or even your wedding day.
For mehendi, you can go for a little bling, something like the one above. Designed by Shirin Hassan, the floral lehenga embellished with sequins, is a good option if you have both mehendi and sangeet on the same night. However, we do not recommend wearing a waist-length top with it. A crop top is a much better option considering the hot summer season.
Masaba Gupta showed us that a bride can look beautiful in carefully selected simple dresses too. If her unconventional choices for her bridal trousseau have inspired you, then you must take a look at this white dress. Designed by Gul Ahmed, it is a simple tube dress, perfect for a day reception at the beach, bridal shower or even a court marriage.
For the perfect red carpet moment at the cocktail party, you can pick this beautifully embroidered Western gown in soft cream colour. It would look lovely on a bride who is tall and dusky. To add drama to your look, go for smoky eyes and nude or pink-coloured lips. As it is your big day, you can dare to go for bold red lips and have your would-be husband fall in love with you again.
If your wedding is scheduled in the month of May or June, you could wear this red, floral embroidered lehenga for your D-day. You can pair it up with a red-coloured choli to make it look bridal and accessorise it with gold jewellery. Also, a red and gold dupatta will jazz up the look further.

Feeha Jamshed’s ‘The Bob Squad’ collection had some interesting designs for day-to-day wear. However, out of all her dresses, there was one maxi dress in black and yellow, which we thought would look perfect for a 70s-themed bachelorette party.
Maria B included some beautiful designs and silhouettes in her collection, making it difficult for us to pick just one. But, for the bride who needs to look her best on the most important day of her life (which we are sure every bride does!), we thought this full-length anarkali gown in an unusual shade of grey would be a perfect choice for the engagement party. The belted dupatta will be a smart choice to keep your hands free to meet people.
This olive green, silk lehenga with black floral embroidery from Shirin Hassan’s collection would work very well for mehendi, sangeet or even the wedding day. However, we suggest you go with a well-tailored, sleeveless, embroidered crop top in black lace or velvet to enhance the bridal look. Opt for a messy bun to look like a diva.
