Tourist Family Actress Simran's Alleged Affair With 22-Year Older, Kamal Haasan Broke Her Engagement

Indian actress, Simran is popular for her predominant work in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films. Born as Rishibala Naval to Punjabi parents in Mumbai, Simran was first noticed by Jaya Bachchan as the former hosted a musical show, Superhit Muqabla. Jaya cast her in the film, Tere Mere Sapne and it was the popular song, Aankh Maarey, which gained Simran popularity.

Simran worked with superstar Kamal Haasan in films like Brahmachari, Panchatantra, and Pammal K. Sambandham. Soon their on-screen chemistry paved way for their off-screen romance and rumours about their affair began. It is also reported that the controversial lip-lock between the two in Brahmachari made people believe that something was cooking between the two.

When Kamal was dating Simran, the actor was married to Sarika but the couple was facing issues in their marriage. Soon Kamal and Simran became the hot topic of discussion. Despite Simran being 22-years younger to him, Kamal Haasan couldn’t stop himself from falling for her.

Prior to her affair with Kamal Haasan, it was reported that Simran was dating choreographer, Raju Sundaram. As per multiple reports, the duo was secretly engaged too. When rumours about Simran and Kamal surfaced, Raju reportedly urged Simran to distance herself from Kamal.

However, Simran and Kamal’s on-screen kiss was the final nail in the coffin and it led to the actress’ breakup with Raju. As destiny would have it, Kamal and Simran’s relationship was short-lived and the two soon broke up.

When Simran lashed out at Thalapathy Vijay

In 2024, rumour mills had that Simran approached Thalapathy Vijay to star in a big budget project, to which the actor denied. As the news spread like wildfire, Simran took to X (formely Twitter) and penned about feeling disheartened to see how little her friends care, implying to Vijay. Setting the record straight, Simran stated that she is not desperate to work with big heroes. An excerpt from her note can be read as:

“I’m not desperate to line up and work with any big heroes. I've been there and done that. My goals are different now, and as a woman, I know my boundaries. For years, I remained silent when my name kept appearing on social media, being linked with one or another. But self-respect comes first.”

Simran’s love story with husband, Deepak Bagga

Simran and Deepak were childhood friends and he used to live near her aunt’s house. While she visited her aunt, Simran and Deepak became close friends. When Simran turned 16, Deepak proposed to her. The couple tied the knot in 2003 and became proud parents to two sons, Adheep and Aadit. After her marriage, Simran left the industry and took a break to focus on her family and kids.
