Actress, Anshu won over fans' hearts with her performances in films like Manmadhudu, Raghavendra , and Jai between 2002 and 2004. After her brief stint in the South film industry, the actress left fans heartbroken by stepping away from the limelight. Now, after 20 long years, Anshu is gearing up to make her comeback with Trinadha Rao Nakkina's film, Mazaka . The teaser launch event of the film was recently held in Hyderabad, marking a special moment for Anshu's fans. However, many were left angry by director, Trinadha Rao's sexist remarks about Anshu.
Much to the excitement of her adoring fans, South actress, Anshu, who has been missing from the big screen for over 20 years now, is finally making a comeback. She will soon be seen along with Sundeep Kishan and Ritu Varma in the film, Mazaka , which is set to hit theaters on April 14, 2025. The teaser launch event recently took place in Hyderabad.
However, director, Trinadha Rao Nakkina's sexist comments towards Anshu left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans. During the event, the filmmaker gave a speech in which he gushed about the opportunity to work with Anshu. Trinadha Rao claimed he had desired to work with her since seeing her in Nargarjuna-starrer, Manmadhudu , in 2002. Speaking in Telugu, he said:
"How does this girl look like this, I used to wonder. If you don't know what she looked like, watch the movie."
Trinadha Rao further stated that he had watched Manmadhudhu several times only for Anshu. The director then asked the audience whether the actress still looked the same as she did during her Manmadhudhu days. Talking about how he had told Anshu to eat and put on weight, Trinadha Rao continued:
"When I saw her I was surprised. I am thrilled about how she looked the same but she lost so much weight and became thinner. For Telugu (cinema), people want big sizes. I told her the same and asked her to improve. She will also improve further."
The Mazaka cast seemed disconcerted throughout Trinadha Rao Nakkina's speech. Actress, Ritu Varma seemed puzzled about the director's comments, while actor, Sundeep Kishan looked uncomfortable. Anshu, towards whom the comments were directed, kept up a graceful smile despite the unsettling comments.
