In the latest development of Sanjay Dutt’s treatment in the US, a source had revealed to the Mid-Day that the actor has procured the visa and will soon head to New York for further treatment. The source had informed, "Sanju had applied for the visa as soon as he learnt of the diagnosis. However, initially, it wasn’t easy to get the clearance. He was acquitted in the 1993 Bombay Blasts but convicted in the arms act. US policies are if one is convicted in any case for 5 years and above, they just need a special waiver for getting the visa. Fortunately, one of his close friends helped the actor secure a five-year visa on medical grounds. He is expected to fly to New York with Maanayata and Priya, where he will pursue treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre."
For the uninitiated, Sanjay Dutt has a family history of battling with cancer as his mom, Nargis Dutt had succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 1981 and his first wife, Richa Sharma too, had brain tumour. Even Sanjay's mother, Nargis Dutt and his first wife, Richa Sharma had gone to the US for treatment. During their respective treatments, Sanjay had juggled between India and the US, managing his professional commitments and personal life.
Post the cancer diagnosis of Sanjay Dutt, Maanayata Dutt had issued a statement wherein she had thanked everyone for their wishes, spoke about life’s another challenge and urged everyone to stop speculating the stage of his illness. We will formulate further plans of travel depending on how and when the covid situation eases. As of now, Sanju is in the best hands of our esteemed doctors at Kokilaben hospital. I request everyone, with my folded hands, to stop speculating the stage of his illness and let the doctors continue to do their work. We will update you all regularly with his progress.” (Also Read: Maanayata Dutt On Having A Difficult Time Being Accepted By Sanjay's Sisters [Throwback Interview])
