Gone are the days when taking care of a child solely depended on mothers. The millennial daddies are not only getting into diaper duties but are also acing the role of fatherhood. They are making sure to fulfill every need of their little munchkins. In a world full of taboos and stereotypes, doing something for one’s self can be challenging. Bollywood actor, Tusshar Kapoor is one such celebrity, who had broken all the norms of the society when he had decided to be a single parent and had opted for IVF. Tusshar Kapoor is an inspiration, who is not only a super cool father but is also acing the role of a single parent. Tusshar had embraced fatherhood through IVF and had welcomed his son, Laksshya Kapoor. In Kareena Kapoor’s show, What Women Want, Tusshar had stated that when he was 35, he had paternal instincts and had realised that the time was right to have a baby. He had also stated that with the arrival of Laksshya, his life had changed completely, and now it is all about his little munchkin.

Tusshar is a hands-on father who dotes on his son. From celebrating his birthday to accompanying him on his playdates, he has redefined the entire meaning of fatherhood. On May 22, 2020, Tusshar took to his Instagram handle and treated his fans with an adorable jamming session with his son, Laksshya. In the video, both Tusshar and Laksshya were seen grooving to some rhymes and starting their day on a happy note. Along with the video, Tusshar wrote, “Some Fridays just don’t turn out the way they were expected to! Nevertheless, friyay!”
After the birth of his son, Tusshar had a press conference at his home, where he had announced the arrival of his little munchkin, Laksshaya. Making a formal announcement, he had stated, “I wanted to be a father. I met Dr. Firuza Parikh and she suggested this procedure. I was in a hurry to become a father. I am turning 40 in a few months, so I felt I was at the right stage to become a single parent and I went ahead with what was told to me. I am happy that I have taken the right decision. Our family is complete now, we are five now, grandparents, me, my sister and little Laksshya." On Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show, What Women Want, Tusshar had opened about choosing surrogacy over adoption and had stated, “Mujhe apna bachcha chahiye tha (I wanted a biological child). Maybe I will adopt in the future, you never know. Never say never to anything. If people who get married and have stereotypical families would like to have their own kids, why can’t I, as a single parent?”

He had also stated that marriage could wait but parenthood couldn’t. He had further retorted that at 35, his energy levels are still high but at 50, he won’t be able to play with his child. Giving it a serious thought, he had decided to have a child. Tusshar had also revealed that his parents were quite supportive of his decision.
In an interview with MensXP, Tusshar had opened up on his fatherhood journey and had shared, "I always wanted to be a father that was my first inspiration. It was something that came from within. Then, I met filmmaker Prakash Jha on the trip to Tirupati. On that car journey on my way back from Chennai, we spoke about this idea of becoming a single father and how it is possible. He enlightened me about the process. I took a few weeks, and thought about it. Introspected and made a firm decision to never turn back and fulfil my dream of being a single father."
