Twinkle Khanna Sat For Mehndi In Shorts, Married Akshay On Same Day, Artist Says, 'Was Surprised..'

Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar are one of Bollywood's most beloved couples. She is known for her sharp wit, charm and graceful personality. Her successful marriage with Akshay for over two decades has been another topic of discussion about the best-selling author. Moreover, unlike most of the celebrity weddings which are planned months ago, Twinkle and Akshay had a hush-hush wedding to an extent where even the mehndi artist for the former actress got to know about it on the day of their marriage. 

Veena Nagda reveals Twinkle Khanna sat for her mehndi in shorts 

The public doesn't know much about Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar's marriage. Still, after 24 years, Veena Nagda, the celebrity mehndi artist who applied mehndi on the then bride, opened up about her experience in a conversation with Meri Sahelli. She revealed that she has been a part of countless celebrity weddings but can't forget Twinkle Khanna, who called her and asked her to come the next day. Recalling the conversation, Veena said:

'You have to come tomorrow for the mehndi for the bride and 10 other people'. She called me just one day prior. I didn't know it was Twinkle who was calling me."

Although Veena got an address, it was not at a wedding home or hall. Instead, at the destination, a car arrived and took her to the actress's home. Unsure about the location, Veena went there and rang the doorbell when Dimple Kapadia opened the door for her. As Veena went inside, the veteran actress asked her if she was surprised, and meanwhile, Twinkle came and took a look at the design. However, the mehndi artist felt it was the bride's friend since she wore shorts. Recalling the moment, Veena said:

"She was sitting in shorts. That's when she declared that it was my wedding and I wanted to get a bridal mehndi. I was so surprised." 

Twinkle Khanna got bridal mehndi done on the same day as her marriage 

Twinkle Khanna gave another surprise to Veena Nagda when she revealed to her that she was going to marry on the same day as her wedding. It made the artist wonder if she was applying mehndi in the morning, how would it get adequate time to darken for the marriage rituals. When Veena finished her work, it was already 4 pm, and after removing it in an hour, Twinkle had to get married at 7 pm. Recalling what happened next, the mehndi artist said. 

"By 5-6 pm, she removed the mehndi. But by the next day, the mehndi was dark, and she called me and said, 'Veena ji, it's so dark now."

Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar's love story 

Twinkle, who worked in the film industry during the late 90s, met Akshay for a Filmfare cover shoot. He was immediately smitten by the actress and they bonded on the set of their film, International Khiladi. Twinkle initially felt it was a two-week fling between them, but Akshay proposed to her for marriage. She jokingly kept a condition that if her next film, Mela, would fail at the box office, she would tie the knot, and it did. However, with mutual love, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2001 and are parents to a son, Aarav and daughter, Nitara. 

Akshay Kumar continues to thrive in his acting career while Twinkle has turned to writing and they both support each other setting an example for others. What do you think about the duo?
