Who Is Tyler Robinson's Father? Meet Matthew Who Turned In His Son For Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist and ally of Donald Trump, was at Utah Valley University debating and conversing with students, a regular occurrence as part of his Turning Point U.S.A. events. However, in a shocking turn of events, the popular media personality was shot dead by an unseen assassin. Although the police immediately caught a senior citizen, he was later released, with evidence indicating that it was someone else.

Later, the President of the U.S.A. revealed that the assassin was in custody and somebody very close to him had turned him in. As per reports, Charlie Kirk's shooter is a 22-year-old student, Tyler Robinson. And the 'close person' who turned him in is none other than his own father, Matthew 'Matt' Robinson. As the investigation unfolds with more twists and turns, here's everything to know about Tyler's father.

Tyler Robinson's father worked with the sheriff's department and was a registered Republican voter

Matt Robinson is a Utah native who worked with the Washington County Sheriff's Department. According to a Daily Mail report, he is also a registered Republican voter, the party with which the late political speaker, Charlie Kirk, aligned. Matt is married to Amber Jones, and the two have three sons, with Tyler Robinson being the eldest. The family lives in a six-bedroom home in Utah, which is roughly 260 miles south of Orem, where Charlie Kirk was assassinated, as per a report by Mint.

Much like Matt, his wife and Tyler's mother, Amber Jones, has also worked in public service. Reportedly, she works for Intermountain Support Coordination Services, which helps the government provide care for people with disabilities. Amid the widespread curiosity about Tyler Robinson's personal life prior to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Amber's Facebook page has gone viral, which gives glimpses of his life.

Tyler Robinson's father, Matt Robinson, convinced him to confess and reportedly even drove him to the police

After initially apprehending the wrong person for the shooting, the FBI released 'person of interest' photos, which showed a seemingly male subject wearing a black T-shirt with an American flag, dark sunglasses and a cap. Reportedly, Tyler's father recognised him through these photos and confronted him about it. The alleged shooter confessed to Matt but threatened his father with self-harm if he called the police. However, Tyler was finally persuaded by his father to speak with their youth minister, who also has connections to law enforcement. The minister relayed the information to the authorities.

Several media outlets claim that Matt Robinson not only convinced his son to confess and surrender, but also drove him to the police station himself. While other reports suggest that after getting information from the youth minister, the FBI took Tyler Robinson into custody. US President, Donald Trump confirmed the arrest of Tyler Robinson and shared with Fox News:

"The person was involved with law enforcement, but was a person of faith, a minister, and brought him to a US Marshal who was fantastic. They drove into the police headquarters, and he's there now. We have the person that we think is the person we're looking for."

Tyler Robinson's father praised for doing the right thing

With Charlie Kirk's shocking death getting divided reactions across the globe, most netizens agree on the notion that Tyler Robinson's father, Matt did the right thing. One X user, John Evans, whose tweet on the case has been going viral with many people agreeing with him, wrote:

"Matt Robinson is a good father who did the right thing. Probably horrific to have to make that choice about your child but I'd like to think that teaching your children that actions have consequences is important. You can love your child but still do the right thing when you know they've done wrong."
