Bigg Boss is one of the popular shows on Indian reality TV. Every year, several known faces from the entertainment industry participate in the show. In the 17th season of Bigg Boss, a few renowned names from the industry, such as Ankita Lokhande, Aishwarya Sharma, Mannara Chopra, Munawar Faruqui, Neil Bhatt, Abhishek Kumar, Rinku Dhawan and Isha Malviya, have graved the show. Amongst these contestants, Abhishek Kumar has been a constant topic of discussion in the media since the season premiered in October. Be it his equation with his ex-girlfriend, Isha or his erratic behaviour with participants, the young Udaariyaan actor has garnered much attention for his stint in the Bigg Boss house.
Recently, his co-star, Ankit Gupta, who was a contestant in Bigg Boss 16, spoke to Telly Chaska on December 8, 2023, about how Abhishek Kumar got into the Bigg Boss house. During the interview, Ankit Gupta disclosed that Abhishek was the first friend he made on the sets of Udaariyaan and how the latter has time and again consulted him regarding his acting chops and other life-related pieces of advice. Ankit further revealed:
“Abhishek mila mujhe toh he said ki mujhe Bigg Boss karna hai. I said ‘okay’. Kehta mera karwao. Main bola yaar main kaise karwaun, mujhe toh shayad Bigg Boss khud nahi pasand karte. Toh bolta ki ‘nahi aap Colors mein itne time se kaam kar rahe ho, aap kisi ko toh jante honge, aap kisi ko kuch bolo kuch karwao.’ Then luckily, I had a friend, and I asked ki mera chota bhai aap ek bar uski profile check kar lo, mil lo agar possible hai toh. And wo mile, actually uski baat aage badh gayi. They liked him aur ho gaya.”
Ankit Gupta is a renowned actor known for his performances in popular shows such as Udaariyaan, Sadda Haq, Balika Vadhu, Junooniyat, and more. He also participated in Bigg Boss Season 16, along with his co-star, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. Their stint in the show brought them more into the limelight, and their fan following doubled up to another level. Telly Chakkar recently interviewed Ankit and asked him about his motivation to participate in Bigg Boss Season 16, especially with Priyanka and if he had any regrets about it. He said:
“To be honest, when we were entering the show Priyanka and I were not talking to each other as they were phases where we had fights and wouldn’t speak to each other. The best thing was that whatever fight we had in our personal life didn’t affect our professional life and we used to shoot the scene without any problem.”
He was further asked if he regretted going to the Bigg Boss 16 house. To this, he said that he was very happy and grateful that he got the opportunity to participate in the show. Ankit mentioned that previously, people only knew about him through the roles he used to play, but after the show, people got to know about his real self. He further said:
“I feel blessed, happy and grateful that I did Bigg Boss as my life has changed completely. First people knew me as an actor and for the characters I played. They did not know how I am in real life and through this show, they got to know and still, they are connected so it’s a wonderful thing and it’s a blessing that Bigg Boss happened to me.”
