Udit Narayan Cheated On First Wife And Got Married For The Second Time, Threatened To Commit Suicide

Singing sensation, Udit Narayan captivated millions of hearts with his soulful voice in the 80s and 90s. Born in Bihar's Baisi village in Supaul district, Udit Narayan has sung in various languages like Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Nepali, Bhojpuri and many others. After the glimpses from the same went viral on social media, he received a lot of criticism for the same. Well, this is not the first time that Udit Narayan garnered negative limelight. Udit Narayan’s first marriage to Ranjana Jha

In 1984, Udit Narayan got married to a woman named Ranjana. As he was not a big name in the Indian cinema, his marriage never made any headlines. As he was struggling to make a name for himself in the industry, Udit decided to move to Mumbai for better opportunities, leaving behind Ranjana.

Udit Narayan married singer, Deepa Gahatraj without divorcing his first wife

In Mumbai, Udit Narayan met fellow singer, Deepa Gahatraj, who was also trying her luck in Bollywood. They fell in love, and Udit married Deepa in 1985 without divorcing Ranjana. The couple welcomed a baby boy in 1987, whom they lovingly named Aditya Narayan.

All hell broke loose when Ranjana arrived at a hotel in Patna, where Udit was staying for one of his shows. Ranjana, along with some reporters, barged into Udit Narayan’s room and openly announced the news of their marriage. When the reporters quipped further, Ranjana revealed that she was married to the singer long back, but he cheated on her. Seeking justice, Ranjana said:

“I have come here to seek justice. He kept me in the dark about his second marriage with Deepa, also a playback singer, for years, and now I have come to seek my rightful place."

Ranjana revealed Udit Narayan threatened to commit suicide

Ranjana also told the media that Udit did not divorce her before marrying Deepa. When Udit was asked about Ranjana's claims, he refuted them by saying she was trying to malign his image. After Udit’s statements, Ranjana took the legal route and levied serious accusations on the singer. When asked why she kept quiet for all these years, Ranjana said:

“Whenever I threatened to go public about our marriage, he silenced me with the threat of committing suicide. Now I have no fears and I will take legal recourse."

Udit Narayan finally accepted his first marriage to Ranjana

As Ranjana went to court to seek justice and showed evidence as proof of her and Udit’s marriage, problems started cropping up in Udit’s home. During the controversy, Udit and Deepa’s son, Aditya Narayan, was 19 years old and went through a lot of emotional distress. After the evidence and proof, Udit changed his statement and accepted Ranjana as his first wife. He issued a statement accepting Ranjana as his wife. The statement could be read as:

“I, Udit Narayan, son of Harekrishna Narayan Jha, have accepted Ranjana as his wife and agreed to provide for her maintenance and upkeep."

Ranjana revealed not taking any money from Udit Narayan to settle the matter

While everyone thought that Udit Narayan settled the matter by divorcing Ranjana and providing her with a hefty alimony, Ranjana revealed that she was not taking any money from him. She told the media that she is happy to get acknowledged by Udit. Ranjana also revealed that she would remain his wife along with Deepa. In her words:

“I have no complaint or grievances against the singer's wife, Deepa Narayan, and their son, Aditya... I have got what a wife should have. I have not settled for any monetary allowance from the singer. He has agreed to keep me with him. It was a family matter, and our differences have been sorted out. He has agreed to keep me as wife along with Deepa."
