Unni Mukundan Allegedly Assaulted His Former Assistant For Praising Tovino Thomas' 'Narivetta'

Malayalam actor, Unni Mukundan has landed himself in some serious trouble after his former assistant accused him of assault. The news, which is now being spread like wildfire online, came to light after a complaint was filed against the actor for physically assaulting his former assistant within the premises of his apartment complex and using abusive language. A complaint has been filed at the Infopark Police Station, and according to the latest reports, a case has been registered against the actor.

Report filed against Unni Mukundan for physical assault 

The complainant, Vipin Kumar, claimed that he had worked for Unni Mukundan for six years, and the actor came to his apartment complex and demanded that he come down. He further alleged that when he met the actor in the parking lot, he assaulted him. In a video posted by Asianet News on their YouTube channel, Vipin can be heard telling the media that the actor even used abusive language with him. He was quoted as saying:

"He also used abusive language. I have filed a complaint. I had been working with him for six years. I stayed in that job despite facing teasing and such behaviour from him."

Vipin Kumar, in the same video, claimed that Unni has been frustrated due to the lack of good projects since his 2024 film, Marco and the failure of his recent film, Get-Set Baby. He revealed that Sree Gokulam Movies had initially agreed to produce Unni's directorial debut. However, later, they backed out of the project, leaving the actor further defeated. Vipin added how Unni often takes his frustration out on those around him and stated:

"Also, although Sree Gokulam Movies had initially agreed to produce Unni's directorial debut, they later opted out. All of this has contributed to his growing frustration. He often takes out his frustrations on those around him, which is why many people who once worked with him are no longer associated with Unni. How long can I endure all this?"

Although Vipin alleged that Sree Gokulam Movies withdrew from the Unni Mukundan project, the announcement post is still available on the production company's official Instagram handle, casting doubt on his claim. Nonetheless, the claims are extremely serious and are being looked into. Vipin went a step further and alleged that one of his recent posts praising Tovino Thomas' Narivetta irked Unni, which led to his assault. He also claimed that the actor broke his glasses by stomping on them. Vipin stated:

"I am a promotion consultant who has been working in the industry for 18 years. I handle PR work for other movies and actors as well. I have worked on around 500 films. As part of Narivetta's promotions, I posted a note on social media praising the movie. Unni did not like it. He phoned me that night and fired me from the manager position. I said ok. It’s after that that he came over and assaulted me."

According to a report by Mathrubhumi, Vipin Kumar sought the police after seeking medical treatment at a hospital. The complainant and the actor had a strained professional relationship for quite some time. However, Unni Mukundan is yet to comment on the matter.
