Ever since Sonali Bendre made the heart-breaking revelation about her health that she is diagnosed with high-grade metastatic cancer, she has become an inspiration for not only cancer patients but for everyone struggling for issues in life. With her regular Instagram posts, Sonali has been inspiring millions with her positivity, determination and optimism towards life. Sonali is currently in undergoing the course of treatment at Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, US, and her husband, Goldie Behl and son, Ranveer Behl make sure to make frequent visits to her. Not only them, Sonali’s friends, Sussanne Khan, Gayatri Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher are the exemplars of the phrase, ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’! Recently, on October 9, 2018, Sonali shared a photo of herself applying kohl to her eyes and flaunting her beautiful look. She shared with it her journey of cancer, with the good and bad days. Starting her caption with a quote of Cheryl Strayed, Sonali wrote, “I knew that if I allowed fear to overtake me, my journey was doomed. Fear, to a great extent, is born of a story we tell ourselves, and so I chose to tell myself a different story from the one women are told. I decided I was safe. I was strong. I was brave. Nothing could vanquish me.” – Cheryl Strayed, Wild."
Sharing how even a laugh had started hurting her, Sonali added, "Over the past couple of months, I have had good days and bad ones. There have been days when I’ve been so exhausted and in so much pain that even lifting a finger hurt. I feel like sometimes it’s a cycle… one that starts off with physical pain and leads to mental and emotional pain. Adding further that it is okay to face bad days in life and it is not necessary to fake smile everytime, Sonali revealed that she allowed herself to cry and to indulge in self pity. She went on to say, “Sometimes it felt like it took everything I’ve had to push past it… a minute to minute battle with myself. I got through it knowing that even though I was fighting a long drawn out, draining battle… it was one that was worth the fight. It’s important to remember that we’re allowed to have those bad days. Forcing yourself to be happy and cheerful all the time serves no purpose. Who are we being fake and putting on an act for? I allowed myself to cry, to feel the pain, to indulge in self-pity… for a short while. Only you know what you’re going through and it is fine to accept it. Emotions aren’t wrong. Feeling negative emotions isn’t wrong. But after a point, identify it, recognize it and refuse to let it control your life.”

She concluded by saying, “It takes an immense amount of self-care to get out of that zone. Sleep always helps, or having my favourite smoothie after chemo, or just talking to my son. For now, as my treatment continues… my visual focus remains to just get better and get back home. It’s yet another test… Student all my life… Learning all my life… #OneDayAtATime”.
A few days ago, Rishi Kapoor too went to the US for a medical treatment along with Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. In the US, the Bollywood gang, including the Kapoors, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher met Sonali Bendre and her husband, Goldie Behl. Sharing some photographs from their get-together, Anupam tweeted, ““The elegance under pressure is the result of fearlessness.” It was so wonderful & refreshing to have dinner with the most beautiful, inspirational & courageous @iamsonalibendre along with the compassionate @GOLDIEBEHL & ever smiling Rupa. #DeliciousFood #RichConversations #NYC”.
Sported in the bald look and a black outfit, Sonali and Anupam can be seen twinning. And explaining the same, Sonali wrote, "Never thought I'd say this. Just like Sonali said, her son Ranveer can definitely bring a big smile on her mommy’s face!
