Popular internet sensation, Uorfi Javed has created waves on the internet, courtesy of her out-of-the-box outfit ideas. The undisputable queen of DIY has become the talk of the town for some time now, and even celebrities are hailing her fashion choices. However, the actress has had a difficult childhood, which transformed her into the kind of person she is today. Despite constant trolling and hatred, Uorfi continues to shine and how.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Uorfi Javed opened up about her struggles to rent a house in Mumbai and listed the reasons behind the same. Revealing that she currently lives in a 1BHK apartment, the actress shared that it is getting 'cramped' and thus, she wants to buy a big house. Talking about the same, she said:
“I am still not able to find a house on rent. The owner, society, want to be your parents- You can’t do this, that, can’t get boys home, can’t cook non-veg. Really?! Focus on your kids. You’re renting me your house, not becoming my relative, so let’s keep it like that. The reason (for not getting house on rent) is because I am single. Second, I am a Muslim. Now, Hindu owners have a problem that I am a Muslim and even Muslim owners have a problem that I will wear such clothes, and it wouldn’t sit well in their community. So that’s their problem.”

Reflecting on the apprehensions of house owners to rent their property to her, Uorfi Javed said that people are unwilling to rent houses to actors, as they feel that celebrities might end up committing suicide on their property. She also added that being a social media sensation, people think that wherever she will go, controversy will follow, which doesn’t help her cause. In her words:
“There is also this issue of being an actor. They have seen a few suicides in the acting field, in the industry in the last few years, so they are scared, that what if actors do the same thing in their house? But I feel mental health is a general issue, it’s just that when an actor does it, it gets highlighted. Then Uorfi Javed comes with a lot of controversies. Paps are also there but they are not coming inside the house! They are downstairs, clicking pictures, what is the need to control everything in others’ life? I don’t understand. I am not getting married just to get a house on rent.”
Further in the interview, Uorfi talked about the ordeal she went through when one of her Facebook profile pictures was uploaded to a porn site by someone, which made everyone think that she is a porn star. Talking about the same, she said:
"When I was 15, someone uploaded my picture on a porn site, it was a normal picture I had uploaded wearing a tube top on my Facebook profile photo. Someone downloaded and uploaded it on a porn site without morphing it, without anything. Then someone saw it and said ki teri picture porn site par hai. Everyone started blaming me I was told that I am a porn star."

Recalling how she was beaten up for it, the actress revealed how her father told the relatives that the porn site people were asking for Rs. 50 lakhs to get the picture removed. However, despite being a victim, Uorfi couldn't say anything. She continued:
"Even my own father said 'you are a porn star'. I think my father was trying to gain sympathy from all this, telling everyone that porn site people have asked me for Rs 50 lakh. This is what he told the relatives the porn site owners were asking for it, that if you want to remove the picture, and I was like that is not possible, but I kept quiet kyunki mujhe mara ja raha tha, peeta jaa raha tha. I was like I am the victim here and why are you hitting me, but they were not ready to believe me and said I am a porn star."
After enduring the constant physical and mental abuse from her father and relatives for two years, Uorfi decided that she couldn't take it any longer so one day she just ran away at the age of 17. She began tutoring kids in Lucknow, then worked in a call centre for some time in Delhi, before finally shifting to Mumbai. She gave a few auditions and landed some roles. However, it was only after her participation in Bigg Boss OTT that she garnered the limelight for her bold outfit choices in public places.
On the work front, Uorfi Javed was last seen in the show, Splitsvilla 14.
