Tollywood's power couple, Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni are enjoying the best phase of their lives as they are going to be parents soon. It was on December 12, 2022, when Ram Charan and Upasana announced that they were expecting their first child together, leaving their massive fanbase in joy. Now, in the latest interview, Upasana opened up about her pregnancy and raising her soon-to-be-born baby.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Upasana Kamineni revealed that she is currently in her third trimester and that she is due in July. Talking about embracing parenthood with her actor-husband, Ram Charan, she shared that they are very excited and added that the latter has been very supportive throughout her pregnancy. Adding that she would like to give her child the freedom to be themselves, Upasana said:
“Like every parent, we are also excited. The child will be allowed the freedom to be themselves but with a certain set of guidelines and responsibility that they actually carry forward because sometimes fame comes with a huge responsibility and it must be valued.”
Upasana Kamineni is currently working while being pregnant, as she wants to be a hands-on mother to her soon-to-be-born baby. In the same interview, she shared that she wishes to be an advocate for working mothers and stressed the fact that motherhood is not different from any other time in a woman's life. Adding that she wants to try and strike the absolute balance between taking care of her child and her career at the same time, Upasana said:
“Why should motherhood be different from any other time in your life?” I do have a lot of help but the thing is that I also want to be a hands-on mother. While being a hands-on mother, I want to try and strike the absolute balance between taking care of my child and my career at the same time. I’m still figuring out how I can use myself as an example to get more women back into the workforce as soon as possible without compromising the well-being of their child.”
Moreover, Upasana added that she aims to bring awareness about motherhood in the corporate world and emphasised that maternity leave should be personalised. Calling the health care of our country very affordable, the soon-to-be mommy shared that she will be using insurance for her child birth. She said:
“Why is maternity leave only structured to six months and why not three months or nine months. And why cannot it be personalized?...Health care is very affordable in our country. We must know the different channels to actually afford it. While I have all this support I know my organization is going to take care of my childbirth. So insurance will cover me. So even I will be using insurance for my child birth.”
Upasana and Ram Charan have been married for over a decade now, and over the years, the two continue to grow together. Revealing how she finds balance in their relationship despite the ups and downs, Upasana shared that she and Ram believe in sticking together in their lows and celebrating their highs together. In her words:
“Life is not a bed of roses and with our travel schedules, with the other external sources, with so many people’s opinions, there were very many lows in our life. But then I think standing together and creating a balance, a clean line of communication, reviewing our relationship goals regularly actually strengthened our bond.”
Further in the interview, Upasana Kamineni opened up about her successful marriage with Ram Charan and admitted that their marriage has its own lows. However, mentioning that being understanding and open to criticism are important aspects of any healthy relationship, the doting wife revealed that they always try to find mid-ground and adjustment whenever they have an argument. She concluded:
“Receiving criticism from your better half is something that you should not take negatively, but you should take with a positive attitude because they know you best, you’re spending so much time with them. I really feel that you have to find mid ground and adjustment. If you read Ramayana and Mahabharta, even the Gods’ relationships went through ups and downs; other relationships obviously have a chance to go here and there. It’s only human. Sometimes we have an emotional fit and it’s absolutely fine being there and being supportive.”
We wish Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni love and light as they are all set to hop on to their parenthood journey!
