Vaibhavi Upadhyaya's sudden demise has left the internet so shocked that it seems not to forget it. For the unversed, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai fame, Vaibhavi Upadhyaya passed away on May 23, 2023, in a road incident. As per the reports, the actress was travelling to Himachal Pradesh with her fiancé in a car, which, while taking a sharp turn, lost control and led to the actress’s death. As per the reports, Vaibhavi's finance, Jay Gandhi survived the accident with minor injuries. However, recently he talked about the incident for the first time.
Several reports claimed that Vaibhavi was not wearing a seatbelt while travelling to Himachal Pradesh. Jay has denied such reports and clearly stated that both were wearing seatbelts. The businessman also shared that they were waiting for the truck to pass. In a conversation with ETimes, Jay shared that he is not in such a condition to talk and requested people not to assume that they were not wearing seat belts or speeding up. Jay shared:

"There is a notion that you speed on road trips, but that was not the case. Our car was standing still and waiting for the truck to pass. I am not in a state to talk much, but I wanted to ensure that don’t assume that we were not wearing seat belts or were speeding."

In the interview with ETimes, Vaibhavi Upadhyaya's brother, Ankit Upadhyaya discussed the car accident in detail. Ankit shared how he first got the news from the police. He told ETimes that he went numb after hearing such pathetic news. While sharing the details about the trip, Ankit shared that Vaibhavi and Jay were very fond of road trips and planned one from Mumbai to Kullu. He shared that the duo faced the accident in a place named Banjar. Ankit shared:
"Vaibhavi and Jay were very fond of road trips and mountains. They had planned a trip from Mumbai to Kullu and they started on May 15 from here. They met with an accident in Banjar."

Further in the interview, Ankit shared how the accident happened. Sharing the accident details, Ankit told ETimes that the space was narrow and heavy vehicles were going up and down. Ankit shared that Jay and Vaibhavi watched a heavy dumper truck passing, so they stopped and waited, but unfortunately, the rare end of the truck hit the car, and as a result, it slipped into the valley. Ankit shared that his sister was thrown out of the car. Ankit shared:

"It was a narrow lane and there were heavy vehicles going up and down. They saw a huge dumper truck coming and stopped their car, waiting for it to pass. The truck took a turn, but the rear end hit the car, which slipped into the valley. Due to the impact, Vaibhavi was thrown out of the car. By the time the locals took Vaibhavi to the hospital, it was too late."
He also slammed the reports of Vaibhavi not wearing a seatbelt. While talking to ETimes, Anit shared that his sister was cautious and never sat in a car without a seatbelt. He also shared that doctors have confirmed that Vaibhavi was wearing a seatbelt which was proved by the marks around her neck. Ankit shared that:
"She was always cautious and would never sit in a car without a seat belt. So, on a road trip, she would be extra cautious. The doctors also confirmed how there were seat belt marks around her neck. It is sad that we were thinking of planning her marriage, but now she is gone."
