Hollywood has lost another great star, as The New York Times reported, renowned actor, Val Kilmer passed away at 65. He was known for playing the roles of 'Tom Iceman Kazansky' with Tom Cruise in the iconic film, Top Gun in 1986 and 'Batman' in Batman Forever, which had a special place in the hearts of fans. For the last few years, fans have been missing him in action, and the news about his death has left them and his colleagues from the industry in shock.
Val Kilmer entertained us with his films, and his action-packed roles with an emotional quotient made an important part of our childhood. But, in his real-life, the actor himself struggled due to his health complications. He was diagnosed with Throat cancer back in 2014, which affected his speaking abilities. When Val featured in a special documentary on his life where he was seen using a breathing tube in 2021, highlighting how his illness impacted his life. In a conversation with The New York Times, his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, revealed that the cause of death of the actor was Pneumonia.
Val Kilmer managed to make a place in the hearts of his fans with his strong and memorable roles in commercially successful films. One of his most iconic roles remains 'Tom Iceman' in Top Gun in 1986 and 'Batman' in Batman Forever in 1995; apart from that, he won the hearts of the audience with hit films like The Doors, Tombstone, Heat, The Saint and Real Genius. The late actor was last seen on the big screen in 2022 when he reprised his role as 'Iceman' in Top Gun: Maverick. Val's films have estimatedly grossed over 3.7 billion USD worldwide over the years. Sharing his thoughts on the actor's career, film critic Roger Ebert once said:
"If there is an award for the most unsung leading man of his generation, Kilmer should get it."
Val Kilmer mesmerised the audiences with his on-screen roles in the '80s and '90s. Consequently, his personal life also made it to the headlines. Different media reports suggested that he had allegedly dated Lesley Ann Warren, Cindy Crawford, Angelina Jolie and Daryl Hannah. Val met actress, Joanne Whalley while working on Willow, and they tied the knot in March 1988.
But, the couple parted ways in February 1996, and he hasn't shared any significant insights about it since then. They had two kids during their marriage: a daughter, Mercedes, who was born in 1991 and a son, Jack, who was born in 1995. Fans got to see a glimpse of the actor's work and life in the 2021 documentary film, Val, where his son provided his voiceover.
