'Varanasi' Leaked Trailer Review, Netizens Call Mahesh Babu And Priyanka Starrer, 'Pure Goosebumps'

SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated project starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra has been officially titled. Initially, the film was titled SSMB29, but it has since been renamed Varanasi. While the makers revealed the iconic first look of the film at the GlobeTrotter event, the Varanasi trailer has been leaked. The leaked clip allegedly provided glimpses of mythology, history and sci-fi. Now that Varanasi has created a buzz online, let’s look at the review of the leaked trailer.

Varanasi's leaked trailer showcases history and mythology mixed with full-on action

The leaked trailer kicked off with a glimpse of a recreated ancient Varanasi, set in 512 CE. Earlier reports claimed that SS Rajamouli’s team had built a detailed city set inside Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City. After featuring the ancient city, the trailer transitions into a dramatic, mythological zone, showcasing fiery asteroids racing toward Earth. One asteroid, named Shambhavi 2027 CE, is seen crashing onto the Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica. After hitting the ice, an ancient city buried beneath is revealed.

The visuals then shift to the wilderness of Africa’s Amboseli, followed by quick glimpses of the Ugrabhatti cave, Vanaanchal, and the iconic Manikarnika Ghat, Varanasi. The trailer also highlights the 7200 BCE Trethayuga, hinting at a connection with an old civilisation in its storyline. The trailer gets intense when the scene shifts to Mahesh Babu. Visibly injured, he is riding a bullock and is holding a trishul. His fierce look, along with the background score, makes the overall 3-minute 40-second clip worth watching.
