SS Rajamouli, over the years, has provided us with some of the much-loved movies like Bahubali and RRR, and this is the first time in his career that he's all set to join hands with none other than Mahesh Babu for his next film, Varanasi. The teaser has already caused a clamour around and people have been going gaga to know what could be the plot of the movie, as the 3-minute clip showed a layered blend of present day, glimpses of Ramayana, including Hanuman in Lanka, and several major glimpses like Africa, Antarctica and whatnot.
Mahesh Babu was seen covered in blood, and with his calm face and fierce eyes, he was seen carrying a trisul as he seemed to lead any major fight. All of these created an illusion that can only be broken while watching the movie. Varanasi will be released in 2027, and as the teaser was dropped, it left people hooked to the screens, who are watching it more than once just to have an idea about what the plot of the movie could be.

The question has been whether the movie has been inspired by the Hindu epic, Ramayana. This idea came with the fact that the teaser carried several fragments of the Ramayana. Well, as per TOI, during the teaser-release event, SS Rajamouli recently revealed the secret. The director, to whom Ramayana and Mahabharata mean a lot, has always dreamed of doing a complete adaptation of these two epics, but he never thought that it could be so soon that he would be able to recreate an episode from Ramayana. Yes! SS Rajamouli revealed that a sequence from Varanasi would be inspired by one of Ramayana's episodes.

Talking more about the Ramayana-stretch sequence in Varanasi, SS Rajamouli shared that each of the segments of this particular sequence needed proper planning and visual imagination. As per the director, it took them 60 days to finalise the sequence only, which has been inspired by Ramayana, and it would be one of the most memorable factors for the viewers, as firmly believed by the director.

The movie, whose initial title was SSMB29, was changed to Varanasi and has a budget of Rs. 1100 crore, as reported. SS Rajamouli revealed that each line and each dialogue were floating, and it was one of the once-in-a-lifetime experiences for him, which he felt during the process. He shared how Mahesh Babu carries the calmness of Rama and the charm of Krishna.

SS Rajamouli was so in awe of Mahesh Babu's Ram-inspired look that he took a photo from the photoshoot and put it up as his wallpaper, and later deleted it, in fear of this being leaked. To mention, Priyanka Chopra is returning to the screens with Varanasi, and as per KoiMoi, she was paid Rs. 30 crore for her role in the movie. On the other hand, Mahesh Babu reportedly has asked for 40% sharing in the film's profit just like SS Rajamouli, so how much his earnings from the film would be, will depend on how the movie works at the box office.
