Varun Dhawan is one of the most handsome actors in the Bollywood film industry. Currently, the actor is hogging the limelight for his upcoming film, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. For the unversed, the rom-com, starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra, is set for release on October 2, 2025. Coming to his personal life, Varun is married to his longtime girlfriend, Natasha Dalal. On September 15, 2025, during the trailer launch event, the Badrinath Ki Dulhania actor was asked about the moment when he proposed to his then-girlfriend, Natasha.
During the trailer launch event for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in Mumbai, Varun was asked by a journalist how he proposed to his ladylove. Immediately after the question popped up, Varun’s co-star, Rohit Saraf, quipped, "Out of syllabus aa gaya bhai." For every couple, the moment before a proposal is quite stressful, as they all strive to make it a perfect one. However, Varun’s efforts backfired when he tried to propose to his then-girlfriend and now wife, Natasha Dalal. Initially a bit hesitant, Varun shared that, as he is now married to Natasha and shares a child with her, he disclosed things about their dreamy underwater proposal.
Recalling the moment, the Student of the Year actor said that when he first fell in love with Natasha, he played a beautiful song by Mark Anthony, You Sang To Me. After hearing the song, Natasha wondered what the reason was behind such a choice. Varun mentioned that he had planned an underwater proposal, so both of them were inside the proposal. So, according to the plan, he went down into the water. He tried 2-3 times, but by the time he went for the final take, Natasha had gone out of the pool. So, the proposal was not at all filmy. He was quoted as saying:
"When I first fell in love with Natasha, I played the song by Mark Anthony called You Sang To Me. So I played that song, and she was wondering ki itna purana gaana suddenly, why did you play. And I was trying to be in the pool. We were in a pool and main neeche jaake upar aake use dena chahta tha. So it was not filmy as it seems. So I went on one knee and she said yes."
Varun and Natasha were childhood friends. Earlier, when Varun appeared on the show, Koffee With Karan, he opened up about his love story. Varun shared that he and Natasha attended the school together. During that time, they were very good friends, and since day one, Natasha became a support system to him, who stayed by his side through every thick and thin. In his words:
"Because I have known her, we were in school together. We were just friends, we weren’t dating then. But since day one she has been supportive of my dreams and it has to be the same. It has to be equal from my side. From my side, I have to be supportive of her dreams also, or what she wants to achieve, or what she likes. Eventually, I think as a couple you want to evolve together."
As years passed, the couple realised their love for each other and decided to get married. On January 24, 2021, Varun got married to Natasha in an intimate wedding ceremony in Alibaug. Soon after getting married to his ladylove, Varun took to his Instagram handle and shared the first picture of their wedding. On June 23, 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Lara.
